Elincia's anoying 10 minutes breaking

Hey guys,

As you probably have noticed, I leave the raid every time for a 10 minute break. This always happens at a random moment and is very frustrating! ( especialy for me!!!)
In this toppic I will explain why I need to be offline for 10 minutes every raid.

Well it is al the fault of my dad. He works in a company as sercurity agent. This means he need to check on the companies property when there is any kind of alarm.
Now that his boss is on a three week vacation my dad got himself a shiny laptop which he need to use every night between 8 and 11.... as soon as the laptop is on, all the internet in my house is offline, which results in me being offline at WoW.
The most frustrating about this fact is that it always happens at a random moment.... my dad doesn't want to set a time for it and it is always when I am raiding.... He also doesn't give a crap about what I am doing....
If we wipe because he dc's me, he shouts something like: work is more important than WoW.

The laptop hopefully leaves next monday, but there is also a chance the laptop won't leave... if that's the case I probably stop raiding till the problem is fixed!

srry for the wall of text and srry about the constant 10 minutes breaking....
One last thing if you think you are pissed or annoyed by this... mutiple it by ten and you know how I feel about it

Stupid question: How is your home network set up?

You should very easily be able to share your net connection between both systems with no issues whatsoever

How is my home network set up... I have no idea, I am not that good with computer and internet stuff.

I think I let one of my friend look at it and see if he can fix it...
But I am not sure when he has time to help me out

Hey,

If we're talking about security work, there's a real chance that some VPN client or router is actively preventing other connections. I have such a VPN client installed on my work computer, which basically severs me from the rest of the internet when I have to access certain machines.

This is certainly a non-trivial situation. I want to thank you for taking the time to explain it to us. It's one of those things that's beyond our control (where "our" includes you ).

From what I understand from your explanation, it's random when it happens, but it only happens once per night. If that is the case, there's no need to swear off raiding for ever. I donj't want to speak for the whole of the guild, here, but, unfair as it may seem, it's certainly something that I, personally, would be willing to learn to live with.

However, I do understand if it frustrates you enough that you will no longer have the willingness to raid. I would be sad over that turnout, though.

I know i have had more than my fair share of having to drop AFK, or drop out of raids due to un-expected family incidents and other issues.

Last night i had to make the whole raid wait for 15 minutes twice because of that fucking fire alarm. Just glad that they finally decided to isolate the faulty alarm... after the 20th time it went off today

Dont worry bout it too much, we all have issues like this from time to time.

I know i have had more than my fair share of having to drop AFK, or drop out of raids due to un-expected family incidents and other issues.

Totally worth it for the hilarity of hearing you debate over TS (with the alarm in the background) if you should stay and carry on clearing trash or go outside with everyone else

Well the second time it went off was about 5 seconds before we were about to pull Vezax. If it went off after i definately wouldnt have left Would be entertaining if the firemen wandered in.

The laptop went back to the demonic place it came from. In other words: no more interuption while raiding!
