[EVE] EVE Forum Closure?

I can't tell what's happening in all the forums here (without overriding my permissions) but it does seem that EVE has quietened all the way down.

Is this forum needed any longer?

I'll be ignoring votes from people who don't actually play EVE or were previous EVE players unless they substantiate their vote with reasons in a post below.

I wouldn't miss them. Not enough EVE discussion anymore that couldn't just as easily be put in the Games chat forum

I'm not posting much if anything in there anymore however there are some useful bits and pieces in there. Such as overview settings, ship fittings and the like like that I'd miss if they were gone completely.

There is nothing posted anymore regarding NERF, and whether or not we pick up -HNW- again at some point remains to be seen. Although, as bob says, there are some good bits and bobs in there that, being removed completely would be missed, like the loss of a thumbnail as to opposed to say, loss of a limb.

Archiving would be good, NERF isn't ever going to resurface as Corax. ran off with the name.


All of the NERF forums have been locked now anyway, so nothing's been posted in there for quite a long time.

The only area that got any use was the general eve section which would easily just merge back into Games Chat now imho.

Yeah, I'd be archiving to Games Chat, probably. If I can get really cunning, I'll add an [EVE] prefix to all the threads before archiving.

In all honesty I beleive having a general area for eve-related stuff on it's own forum very helpful, especially from my point of veiw (seeing as I am somewhat estranged from -HNW- and have my own corp/alliance stuff going on). Yes you can stick news onto a single thread on the Games forum but soon that would be cluttered or unread, especially since Eve evolves faster than most other games thus a lot of news would be required.

To be honest I prefer it this way as it makes it easier to read up on specific things such as the upcoming attribute skills removal, Arcana character creation, etc.

Closure, I think. Traffic is tiny and EVE has a lot of complexity to its management that would be good to simplify out. I'll tag everything with the [EVE] tag and push it to Games Chat when I get chance / feel like it.

I agree with the closure. A few failed attempts to breathe life into the section have resulted in a few posts, then nothing more, and even relativley user-focussed media reports are met with indifference.

I feel that the game itself provides 90% of the social tools required, and as THN is a multi-gaming, multi-corporation (In EvE) community, the need for a central venue for eve died with NERF back in '10.

RIP EvE forums, we barely knew ye.
