Extra security for WoW

Blizzard have announced at the Invitational that they are introducing One-Time Password Authentication to WoW.

This is optional, but if you have been hacked before or fear being hacked then getting one of these will stop your account from being compromised.

The way it works is that you have a small keyfob that you press a button on and it generates a special one-time only code.

You must use this code in addition to your username and password to log in, and because the code is constantly changing then it is considered "unbreakable". (note: nothing is ever unbreakable! :p)

It;s incredible that computer games are having to look at the same level of security as banks these days

The problem is that although they hate to admit it, accounts DO get hacked into and all of their gold and items are sold and then passed on to another character so that it can be sold on for real money.

It's happened to a couple of people in our own WoW guild before.

It's the dirty little secret that everyone knows happens, but no-one wants to admit.

Also at only 6 Euros for a single keyfob that is also pretty cheap IMO...
