Faction Changes

So, faction changes just went live on the US servers and are coming to the EU soon™

Doesn't mean much to me since all my characters are Horde on SSL, but I was wondering if anyone has any plans to make use of the transfer?

I personally have no real reason to faction change but i know a few people who might.

I know that some of our guild already have both alliance and horde characters on the same server, either on one account or multiple, gives them a chance to play some of their characters more i suppose if some of their alliance ones are "shelved" so to speak.

Also i know my younger brother has alot of alliance characters, and has expressed an interest in potentially moving one character to SSL and swapping it to horde to join the guild.

I dont really see the faction change being used extensively by many people, it just opens up more options for players who spend alot of time talking to players on other servers and factions.

To be honest what id be interested to see is Cross Continental transfers. I know alot of people who play on US servers, and given the chance id enjoy playing along side them, but i doubt thats an option we will see for a long time, if ever.

I'll probably be transferring my Human Mage from another server to SSL in order to make him Horde once that's possible. As he's already lvl 72, it should give me another endgame char without too much trouble.

I just saw a thing on mmo-champion about this.

It's $30 + taxes for a SINGLE faction change for a SINGLE character.

That means that in GBP it'll probably be about £20.

way too much money :/

Im going to bring most of my alliance chars over tot the Haven. Auryne lvl 80 druid, Shylah lvl 77 priest and Aury lvl 63 warrior. Hmm seems its expensive though.. dunnoes if I should bring other alts over as well, but I guess can always see laters.

well basically it's a combination of a race change, a character re-customization and a name change all in one.

That's probably why it will cost so much...

I've got a hunch it might just be £15; that's roughly how much it is for re-customisation over here at the moment, and I think the US price for it is $30. I could be wrong, but if I'm right, then expect it to just be like something added onto the recustomisation process, but that makes it take longer before the character is accessible again.

So what happens to the alliance only stuff once you turn horde (or vice versa)? Mounts, tabards, gear, etc?

Anything that isn't faction-specific remains untouched - anything that is faction specific will be replaced with the equivalent item from the oposing faction.

There is a website you can use to check what is switched into what, but it's on the US WoW site so you may need to be away from work to check it properly
