Has anyone else noticed THN has become a lot quieter recently? It's like an IP graveyard ... So I'm going to spice things up a bit, and make you all reminisce, by making a Favourite Disney Movie poll! Oh yes indeed. There is not one of you here, NOT ONE, who can deny that they liked at least one Disney movie. So, I'm here to find out which one is the king of them all! Ill try and make it so you can put in more than one vote, because I love so many and it'll be nice to see an average-ish result.

If I've missed any of your favourites out then let me know.

Oh one more thing, say Lilo and Stitch and DIE!

OK I cant actually force you to cast a certain number of votes, but I can allow you multiple votes and ask you to please limit yourself to three votes each. I'm doing this because I'm split between so many, I think we might see a clear winner anyway if everyone votes similarly but with a few differences. Id also quite like it if you explain your choices afterwards. Please dont go off topic, it just dilutes the whole thread.

In the same vein, if you dont like Disney movies then please don't waste a post telling us that you dont (however, I would much prefer you participated. In fact, just vote for the ones you hated least.).

The times i liked disney movies i feigned it in order to appeal to female company. :)

I also liked some as a kid, but that doesn't count. Kids have underdeveloped brains, i cannot be held responsible for liking disney movies as a kid!!

I think in general they seriously suffer from thin, shallow, cliche plots. I can see why they're succesful, and they have their good sides too, especially the non-cartoon ones, but still.. bleh. Not my thing.

Before you say anything, the reason for my post being so far down is because I had to go for tea after i made the poll, anyway:

1. The Lion King. Just a damn good film! The animation was superb, and the vocal casting was spot on. The story was also really good, theres something about lions that just makes this quite appealing :) A few memorable moments as well like Mufasa trying to save his son from the trap and sacrificing himself in doing so, and Timon and Pumbaa's wacky songs. Excellent watch.

2. The Lady and the Tramp. This is kind of mysterious this one, I can't actually remember a whole lot of it because I was quite young the last time I watched it, but some pieces of the film really stand out for me. The little Scotty dog was brilliant, and it had plenty of emotional scenes that I attached to. The one bit where the blood hound 'dies' is very sad :( Also has some catchy tunes and, in my opinion, the best story of the lot.

3. The Three Caballeros. Another odd one really, if you watch this film it bores you to death by the end of it. It's kind of like a a Disney tour of South America, where Donald Duck and his amigos cut in and guide you through. Why is this in my top movies? The first hour or so of this film was reaaaaaally good. It mostly consisted of a series of short stories and comical interludes by some crazy birds. My favourite was the story about the penguin who migrates to the tropics 8) but thats another story. Another thing which clinched this for me was the coolest Disney bird ever - Panchito. He's a mexican rooster with twin revolvers and a kick ass hat. Beast.

The Emperor's New Groove - One of the funnier movies I've seen. It also had a llama. Llamas pwn.
Fantasia - It's awesome. Just awesome.
Spirited Away - So maybe Disney didn't make it, but they're the ones who translated and dubbed it.

I'll add my other 2 votes when the options are added :)

Change one to Bambi 2 :D
Why aren't all those sequels up there for voting I wonder...

FB - Emperor's New Groove and Spirited Away will be added.

Haven - I originally had B+B up (as well as The Love Bug and Mary Poppins) but decided live action films shouldnt feature. Ill add them all now, though.

R_S - I really did love it that much :) No actually I hated it, I should remove both of them :p

FB 2 - Sequels are mince in their own right. Plus, if you liked the original then the sequels usually appeal as well. It saves me having a massive massive list.

I'm not a great fan of disney films now, however I used to love Aladin. I mainly like the cheesy humour brought by the great blue genie. I also remember being terrified of the witch in "Snow White" when I was a young'in.

And Disney was kind enough to include the original version on the DVD :)

But what’s wrong with Lilo and Stitch?!?

It's got giganto alien sharks from outer space!

You poor, poor cynical old man. It's easy to be pretentious about movies perceived to be aimed at children! Many Disney films are taken from classic literature, and to call Alice in Wonderland or Pinocchio cliché is ridiculous. Dumbo has the tragic story of a mother thrown in prison for trying to protect her deformed son, which is heart rending and your average 10 year old won’t empathize with that situation. There are elements in Disney movies for all audiences you just have to see them.

Anyways, that list should be a lot longer, what about the latest contributions from Pixar?

I would have voted Bambi out of loyalty but I felt I'd be true to myself and vote for the King of the "Jungle Book".

*EDIT* I have tried to vote for Spirited Away aswell. Didn't realise it was a disney production though.

Firstly where is Black hole, A Nightmare Before Christmas and Pirates of the Carribean, the 1st and 3rd i can understand if were not talking live action but the live action films were definately the better in my opinion, they were more family acceptible than watching a cartoon.

Basil The Great Mouse Detective, my favourite from the group, and you have done your reasearch, Disney discontinued it regularly because it made children cry, and rightly so. :D
