Fields of Battle

Fields of Battle is a turn-based strategy game set in World War 1. It's really tactical and even has a mini battle viewer (kinda). The AI is almost unbeatable, even at average skill level, and if you're a strategy game player you'll enjoy the many hours you will spend planning strategic attacks.

A good blast and recommended for strategy fans.

If you want to get it, you can always find out more information at The Underdogs - Check the uber linkage :D (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1544).
If you try it out, let me know what you think of it.
On a related note, Windows XP users may need to use compatibility settings to force 640x480x256 to get it to work properly, but it's worth it :D.

The Best turn based strategy game I ever played was Xcom Enemy Unknown, yes its ancient with terrible graphics but it was soo fun :D. I played UFO aftermath a while ago but it just did not have the same spark as Enemy Unknown.

I know what you mean about Aftermath, Macca. That said, I wonder if it's a problem with moving goal posts -- after all, back around Enemy Unknown, the graphics were decent enough and the gameplay was inspired. That's now been done, and graphics have moved on a long way, so the comparable game today needs to look decent (which isn't that easy, I'm thinking) and also have equally inspired gameplay...

I played aftermath maaaaany hours. unfortunately I hit a wall. tried yet more hours with that wall (think it was around 10 or so) before I gave up on it. shame, it was a good game up until then :(

i was a big big fan of the xcom series (specially apocalypse) but after being handed to Altar it just went downhill i think.
aftermath just didnt feel like an xcom game. there were too many options and weapons which i always think ruins a game.
also i thought towards the end of the game it became ridicolously hard. no matter what i did after like one round there would be about 3-4 aliens surrounding my men all with the best weapons and the next round everyone would be as good as dead. which is why i cheated my way to the end and i have to say the ending was pretty bland as well :(
