Final raid teams

I feel like an ass for bringing this up, because I've been in so many raids recently, but I'll do it anyway.

Would there be any chance of getting the final raid teams decided on a night before the actual raid happens?

I'm asking because with the recent amount of sign-ups there's a big chance of not getting into the raid group. And because the final teams are only getting published at around 20:30 local time there's little opportunity to make other plans for the evening in case you don't get to raid. Now, I wouldn't mind if it was just weekdays, but it's an annoyance on the weekends. I value my evenings, and I love to come to a raid, but I hate just sitting around doing pretty much nothing without a chance to organize something else.

What are your opinions on this?

I second this motion.

However, for it to be feasible and actually doable for the officers, people would need to sign up on time and ALL of them!

Get them to do this and we'll be set :)

In many ways. This is a good idea. I can see your point.

It isnt really up to me, but it certainly is feasable and has many advantages.

However, as Ang says, it would need alot more signups, and alot less maybes.

There will always be one or two at some point who can't make it for some reason.
This is one of the reasons why we like to have people on standby. If something happens to one. Another one can come into the group instead, where possible.

I tried doing this for a while some months ago.

In about 2 months, with groups published at the latest the afternoon beforehand, I think that only once was the group that went the same as the group that I came up with beforehand.

Various reasons in play, all of them legit, and it's why there is perhaps a little reluctance to do it now.

I'll see what I can do for you though as I do like this to be done in advance too, say, by teatime at the latest on the raid day.

We think about it in advance but every time we've seriously tried saying in advance, it's never worked well or lasted for long, and led to upset more than once. Unless we go hardcore (which we won't), then I don't think we can get it to work...

The real problem with this is that it will work with a raiding guild as everyone wants in but so many times we have people signing up and not turning up and it's very difficult to do especially with people whof requently sign up late and yet moan when they don't get a spot.

Hoy, :)

Yea, this always sounds like an awesome idea on paper, but every time we try it, it tanks horribly.

Believe me, everyone is well aware of this problem, but until we get 25-mans into full swing again (and we wil, see the other thread), it's not likely to go away... :(

Hang in there, though, Things are just beginning to look up. :)

Cheers,
J.

Main reason for that being that when we run a 25, there's few raider-ranked people online who won't get into the group, so people can usually safely assume they're in :p

I guess I should not have hurried back home tonight to get back online in time for the raid.

Unfortunately with ten mans theres not always room for everyone to get in. If it's any consolation the raid wasn't that great anyway. Hey, there's always next week. :)

This has happened to me on more than one occasion, and I can certainly understand how it can be frustraring, at times. Heh, usually, this is when I take the opportunity to put some levels on one of my many lowbie alts. :)

Ultimately, it comes down to this being the price we (must be willing to) pay to be serious about raiding but not be in a hard core raiding guild. It's the job of the raid officers to make sure no one gets stuck with an unfair share of this price.

Trust me, mate, no one missed the point of the thread.

Cheers,
J.
