I was just wondering whether it was possible to have firefox and IE installed at the same time? Also, would it be possible to have firefox as the default searcher for only my user area on my computer, so that my parents won't know its on the system? I ask this because my mum would get a migraine from anything other than IE and my dad would probably explode at the very thought of me changing something on the PC (he's a bit of a worrier when it comes to the PC)

Yes, it is possible to have both IE and Firefox installed side by side. I don't know how Windows implements the "Make this my default browser" functionality for sure, but I believe it is per user so if you log on as you it should have custom settings for you. Either way, you could still have it installed as the non-default browser and just choose to open it whenever you browse the Web.

Yes you can have both installed with no problems (IE is installed by defaut so every Windows user has it to start with whether they use Firefox or not), and if you have multiple user setup then yes, you can set Firefox as the default browser on your account. But your dad might still find it installed if he goes looking.

Edit - Ronin a few seconds faster :(

It will ask you when you start firefox

"Do you want to make firefox your default browser?"

Click "ZOMG YES PLZZZZZZ!!! ^^^XXDDDD IR NOOOB"..

..or words to that effect..

You go into control pannel, and then to "Add or Remove Programs then down to the "set program access and defaults". And you can change it in there.

Client side JS? I'm going to assume I'm just not understanding this the way you're explaining it... Have a link to the extension?

Greasemonkey :D

Allows you to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript.

Hundreds of scripts, for a wide variety of poular sites, are already available at http://userscripts.org.

You can write your own scripts, too. Mark Pilgrim's definitive Greasemonkey guide, diveintogreasemonkey.org will show you how.
