UPDATED 27th September.
Since the recent nerf, we have now cleared up to Ragnaros (yay!).
I have tweaked this post to include links to tactics for all Firelands bosses as our first Raggy kill can't be that far away.
As a special note: despite the nerf, this week's raiding has been pretty awesome and I think we can all give ourselves a little "Huzzah". The communication during fights and the quick reactions of people has helped push us forwards quickly - let's keep it up
------
As we push further into Firelands I'd like all Raiders to be, at least vaguely, aware of what the main boss fights are like.
As Raid Officer, I often cannot make a decision on where or what we do until the actual raid forms and so cannot give much in the way of prior announcements to allow you all to prepare.
So, here's a quick recap and explanation of how I see us moving forward.
We have currently, as a guild, downed these bosses:
These three I consider standard fights now as most main raiders are familiar with them.
Update: We can start bringing more inexperienced, slightly undergeared people to these fights.
Shannox
Beth'tilac
Lord Rhyolith
[strike]So, moving forward we will be doing either:[/strike]
Update: We have also downed the following bosses but tactics aren't as straightforward as the others and require good concentration and reactions
Baleroc
Alysrazor
Majordomo Staghelm
Update: Finally the big firey-dude himself
Ragnaros
These I consider "progression" as they are new to us and not exactly a faceroll. (yet).
Raiders should take a little time to at least be aware of what happens in the fights and make a mental note of things applicable to their class.
The links above go to tactics, please watch/read them and/or do your own research on your favourite raid-guide site
We may end up using tactics different to these (or what you find) but at least you will know what happens, any special abilities, adds, etc.
While we will go through the fights in detail before starting, it would help enormously if you are somewhat familiar with them. I'm not saying you have to know everything in full detail and be studying for hours before raid time - just do a little research for half an hour one week. It could save us a lot of time and, possibly, a wipe or three.
If, after the Raid Leader has explained the fight, you are unsure of any aspect of the fight, what you should or shouldn't be doing or anything that may affect the fight or your actions - ASK.
Even if it has just been explained, if you're not sure of a phrase, term, action or whatever - ASK.
Raid Leaders are always happier explaining an element of a fight again rather than wiping.
Our raid nights are often fun but we have been wasting a lot of time unnecessarily on occasion and I want more of the "WOOTS!" when that boss goes down
And to pre-empt any comments, this is not aimed at any one person - if it was, I would be talking to them.
