[FIXED] Some buttons / text missing

Everyone,

There's currently a problem plaguing the boards, as of around an hour ago (for me) where there is some missing text in various places. This is particularly noticable when you go to the Post Reply page, where both buttons are blank and the options beneath all lack text.

We don't know why yet. We're looking into it.

Edit - scratch that, I see it now. On the quick reply section, the button for "Go advanced" is empty. As is one of the buttons in this edit box. I have Save and Cancel, but the one in between is empty... So thanks for the heads up!

Another issue (that I haven't seen posted on the board) is sometime, when I first load the page, the shoutbox isnt loaded. In its place is the main game.thn site... As in, there is a box the size of the shoutbox, but the whole page is loaded into it. Will screenshot next time it happens.

Yeah, missing the text on the 'go advanced' button right now. Using IE 6, though I doubt it matters. The 'value' attribute of the button is empty in the source. Possible issue with localization or something? (ie. can't properly read localized text for the button from wherever it gets that from...)

There was a basic maintenance upgrade on the database this morning, around 10:00, but the text was all there around midday so I'm not confident that was the issue.

The missing text is all "phrased" (in vB parlance). The phrases are all there, all have values, just aren't being written into the page.

Doesn't make sense.

Well, in a classic "makes no sense", it's working again. Hopefully it'll stay working.

All I did was to give the phrase for "Go Advanced" an English US translation of "Go Advanced" (yes, the same as the default). Magically, all the missing phrases appeared again.

Fubar indexes post mySQL upgrade? Maybe, but we don't know. Please keep your eyes open for further issues.

For now, hopefully, case closed.

I did notice a problem like this earlier while reading posts. I saw a post from Gopha where his avatar was replaced with the text "Gopha's Avatar", and clicking on that would send you to his profile (as does clicking anyone's avatar). A quick refresh fixed it, and I haven't noticed it happening again.

Haven's made some behind the scenes changes to the MySQL database and it looks like we're solved on this (and some other behind the scenes) issue. Shout if you see anything odd.
