So while browsing the WoW techsupport forums during my lunch break today I came across a possible solution for those of you having regular problems with disconnecting while in raids and also in other situations.
I can't find the source for this one now i'm home but the following has been reported to help alot of people who are having trouble while in raids. Turn your chat window into non-interactive mode. To do this, login to the game and then hover over your chat window so that you can see the tab that says "General". Right click the part that says "General" and you will see a menu. In this menu, you should see an option that says "Make Noninteractive". Select this option.
This option will make your chat window completely non-interactive, as the option name might suggest. This means that you will NOT be able to click on any links or on any names, and it will not do anything at all. If you have multiple chat tabs I would suggest trying it on all chat tabs.
To re-enable Interactive mode, hover your mouse over where the General tab would appear and it will then appear. Right click and click the "Make Interactive" option. This will re-enable all links in the chat window.
Note that if you use any kind of chat mod then these options probably aren't available in this way... so you're kind of on your own there.
I also found another post that involves some slightly more advanced network setting tweaks that has helped this particular person out with his problems, read his post here. This is for XP users only but again could be useful.
