Forza 2 Car Photos

So recently I (re)discovered that I can upload my Forza 2 car pictures to my profile on forzamotorsport.net to show the world (only 5 at a time, though), and since I've been working away at a few car projects I thought I'd create this thread so I could share 'em with you.

If you recall, I tried my hand at making some Wipeout-themed signatures a few months back. Well, I decided that since I'm no good at art, and that the Forza 2 vinyl/decal system is too powerful and complicated for me to get a good grip of, some simple wipeout vector designs would look nice on cars and be fairly straightforward. So, here are 3 cars I've made in the past couple of days - the team logos, designs, symbols and mottos were done (painstakingly, over hours and hours. actually using a ruler and calculator to work out size ratios) by me, but the manufacturer decals on the AG-S 350Z were taken from the game library. Anyway, here they are:

Here's a couple of other cars I have as well -

Trying to copy the race-modified Mitsubishi GTO from Gran Turismo:

An awesome Ferrari F430 that I bought from the auction house with a really really good Mario design on it (this is the true potential of the Forza 2 customization tool)

INCIDENTALLY, if anybody else out there has Forza 2 then you can put your photies in here as well if you want.

You did the textures or the textures and the model?

Either way, it looks very good, very professional.

Just the texture. The idea is that you buy a stock car (a TVR Tuscan R in this case, very fast and snakey) and then the 'Paint' editor allows you to place vinyls or geometric shapes over the surface body of the car up to a limit of 1000 per side. The 'company' font was created using basic rectangles and circles all pieced together to make each individual letter - but to make it look really neat I used a calculator and ruler to computate the ratios between height, width, thickness etc. to make sure all the letters have exactly the same dimensions. There are about 6-8 parts per letter on average, and since 'COMMERCIAL ANTI-GRAV SOLUTIONS' contains 28 letters, thats 28 x 7 = about 200 layers for that sentence alone. Taking into account the logos, main text body and other bits and pieces, that one side used about 600 out of 1000 layers. 600! individually placed shapes, it takes it's time (not least because you're using a fiddly controller instead of a mouse)... but luckily the editor lets you group vinyls and paste them like a stamp, which is how I did all the logos all over the place.

So yeah, textures :) the only 'modelling' I do as such is choosing the rim styles and adding the spoilers and front/rear bumper scoops. It's a lot of work, but I enjoy it. I've started work on tomorrows car just now, actually, so I have more time to fiddle around with the designs. I think I'm starting to get 'designers block' ...

And thanks :) it's more fun ripping them round a track :D

shineys, the Nissan AG_Sys is my fave :)
I reckon a 2097 Piranha would look pretty good and maybe a Daniel Chang AG_Sys!

A lot of people like the Nissan :) it looks like a proper JGTC car, but it's actually my least favourite. Partly because the sponsors were all pre-fabs from the game, and also because its a bit too cluttered for my liking; I prefer the clean lines and shapes on the Audi R8 myself. I guess what I'm trying to do is imagine what it'd be like if Wipeout had cars instead of anti-grav ships (thank goodness it doesnt :)) so I'm not going too overboard with sponsors and 'CASTROL' 'NISMO GT-R' all over the place.

Boink! Another new car! I didn't have a clue who this team was (because I've only played Wipeouts 2097 + 3) so I had to do a bit of research. According to wikipedia, they're Australian, so I guess the closest thing to an Australian car in Forza 2 is the Monaro VXR (came from Holden, I think). Plus, wikipedia also says " ... their ship is heavy, very fast on straights, and can withstand considerable damage. This comes with the cost of having truly horrendous handling ... " so it's a pretty good match :) Enjoy! I should also mention that it photo'd very well, so I might have gone a bit OTT

And I'll try and follow up your request Mr. Fist! :) the AG-Systems one anyway, since I still have all my AG-S decals saved and I want to try something a little less challenging next time. I'm still learning this editor, so teams with complicated curvy names like Pirhana and Auricom will have to be postponed for now :p

It's been ages since I made one, and I had the Auricom font ready since before new year, so it was about time I got it finished.

Dude that is one sexeh car.

I can't be arsed with making things look pretty like that. I normally just put a purple or orange paint job on and I quite like leaving em plain.
