In Cryo Sleep
I just drank a huge mug of tea and ate half a packet of winegums and now I can't get to sleep, but in my delirious semi-stupor an idea came to me.
I bought a GFX card last year to put in my new PC, an HIS ATi Radeon 3870X2, but it didn't work out so well for me. It gave me a lot of trouble at i37, throwing up 'endless loop' bluescreens and delivering wildly erratic framerates on COD4. I tried it out in my brother's PC as well, but he was encountering exactly the same problems as I was, so I came to conclusion that it was FUBAR and sent it back to Overclockers.
Unfortunately, Overclockers are complete cunts (I wouldn't recommend you buy anything from them) and bounced it back to me saying it went through 300 or so loops of the Crysis demo with no problems (which I suspect was a complete fabrication) and then charged me another tenner for the privilege. Those fucks! So I gave up on the thing and bought a new GFX card instead, consigning the 3870X2 to the loft where it has resided ever since, gathering a layer of dust ...
... until now. Now obviously I suspect it's a dodgy piece of kit, but I guess there's the chance that Overclockers were right and it's just something else that was causing it to fuck up (like dodgy drivers, for instance, but that's unlikely). So I figure that if anyone is interested - maybe someone has a creaky old card and can't afford a newer one - then you can take it off my hands at i40 for nothing and see if it works for you.
Apparently it's a real powerhouse of a card, should outperform the newer 4870 I have in my PC at the moment, so if anyone wants to give it a shot then be my guest.
First to reply gets to try it first, and I'm only interested in a straight handover at i40.
Either someone takes it or it gets chucked in the bin, because I'm not selling a (suspect) broken card.
