[TF2] Game slowing down after startup

Hey folks, just wanted to gauge some reactions to a problem I've been having on my system. It is most pronounced on source-based games, although it does tend to affect most, but not all, other games too.

Essentially, a short time after starting up a game (say 2 mins) the FPS will drop to less than half and stay that way for several minutes. Then, the cooling fan starts up (its a laptop) and suddenly the game is running smoothly again.

I was interested to know if anyone has the same issue and any actions taken to resolve?

My specs:
-Macbook Pro (yeah boo hiss etc)
-Windows 7 x64, running latest bootcamp and nvidia drivers
-Core 2 Duo 2.5ghz
-4GB RAM
-9400M gfx

:)

Is there some kind of BIOS (or other) setting or something that could be stepping the processor speed down to try and reduce the temperature, rather than kicking the fans in like it probably should be?

I'll second blokes reply. I've had problems before where my laptop kept getting bumped into 800MHz mode, rather than 2GHz, and games would just plummet into horribleness. Definitely worth a look.

Cheers guys, I was thinking along the same lines. Unfortunately as my system is based on EFI rather than a BIOS I'm limited in options that way, but I've tweaked my advanced power settings in windows and am hoping this might help, although the processor cooling was already set to Active rather than Passive. Might need to see if there is some kind of software that can override Intel's settings...
