Game specific web pages?

I was thinking of getting this idea out in the open, for you to bat about. I was thinking how about a webpage for each thing.

Like for a Battlefield 2 page

and for

A World Of Warcraft page

and soforth for NS and UT etc.

This in my opinion would make the site more pleasing to the eye than just boards as we have at present. It would give news straight up and give information rather than having to read it off the forums. Ofcourse, nothing wrong with reading it off the forums, but, reading it off a site like the ones listed above gives it a certain.. je ne sais quoi.

This is a big task, but I think, in the long run, will prove very beneficial.

Begin your batting of ideas!

Money.
Time.
Change?

It would cost more money I think, More time and hassle, and you dont want to keep changing websites just to find particular posts

Is your main thrust here about look and feel or even layout as opposed to functionality?

I think given that you change the games you play so much, it would be a waste of time. You used to be primarily CSS and NS, now you've moved on to BF2. What happens when BF2 gets old? Forums are more dynamic, the users create the content, and it's much less work than a different portal website for each game, which would probably just emulate every other website for that game, only someone would have to update it every day. I think most people would skip straight past it to the forums.

Agreed, I don't even see the front page of the forums. I've got it linking straight to new posts

You could try making your own layouts for VBulletin and submitting them to Ronin Storm.

I believe it is possible to sub-template i.e. to assign different templates and layouts to seperate forum sections. If you're interested in havnig a go at templating then either give myself or RoninStorm a shout.

It is, they did it over at the BCG forums for the IAF Intelligence section.
