Hooray for GitS! I've still only seen the first movie, I keep meaning to buy Innocence and get a loan of SAC, but it just isnt happening.

I really enjoyed the second movie, doubly so because we got more time spent on Batou and he's my favourite character in GitS.

Seen both of the movies at the cinema (yay for City Screen!) and watched SAC1 and 2. Really looking forward to this. Thanks Haven! :)

Batou truly was the best character. Major Kusanagi was portrayed to be so deep, and yet ended up so shallow. Batou really communicated better with the viewers, I'd say. Also, his optical implants made him look ... strange, but brilliant :) Id really like to see Togusa and Ishikawa's character's developed in the latter releases. Maybe they have been, I dont know. Thats why I need to SEE it :)

That's what I was supposed to be doing earlier!

Purchasing a copy of SAC2 :D.

Deviating a bit, is SAC2 as good as SAC1?
How does Aramaki deal with his divsions new position? Are the Tachikoma *sniff* really gone? Are the epsidoes still awesomely varied?!

Lies, I give nothing away!

Alls you knows is that the Tachikoma get to go and do some cool schtuff, and Aramaki has to deal with political intrigue :p.

Heh, not to worry. I was only kidding anyway, kind of :) There was someone before that went and spoiled a whole damn thing for me and I can't remember who or what it was. Still, pisses me off no end when I know whats happening. You always see in the papers, 'this and this and this happening in Coronation Street ... 3 months from now' and I just think, thanks Daily Record for that. They went ahead and spoiled the ending of The Usual Suspects for me as well, by telling me that

Verbal Kint is, in fact, Keyser Soze
and when you know it's going to happen you just don't enjoy it so much.

(No spoilers below.)

In my opinion, SAC2 isn't as good as SAC1, but that may be down to the translation in the fan-subs I've seen. I've noticed that fan-subs tend to be more verbose, trying to stick to the original meaning, where the official subs tend to be tighter and while they may miss a nuance or two the whole thing hangs together a little better.

Still, I felt the whole SAC2 storyline wasn't as strong as SAC1 and felt needlessly obscured behind pompous literary references. In a sense, I felt like the writers were saying "ha, not read Hemingway you illiterate caveman?" and that tends to peeve me some, not least of which that I couldn't give a flying crap about how many references a writer can stuff into their writing; I only want to know about this story and these characters, no matter where you drew your source material.

Still, SAC2 assuredly has its moments and the animation is always worth watching and, from what I've seen of the briefly-posted link to the next film it's probably required watching before starting on the film. Some snippets give me the impression it directly follows on from events in SAC2 and, as such, may spoil SAC2 if watched first.
