Gold Farming: It isn't all happy ranching

If I really had to, I could put up with gold farming. What I do not like is the incessant spam that you get in-game advertising such services. Also the fact that the spammers seem to be one step ahead of the developers in exploiting loopholes that get around any spam prevention measures that are implemented.

I for one would like to see this go to court and set a precedent - if successful it would allow the gamers to actually take better part in the game experience without having to right click someone's name and select "ignore" every 2 minutes.

This is true of any publicly available consumer software product. You have X number of developers and Y number of users. The developers can spend A number of hours each trying to prevent some condition. Y has a subset, Z, which can spend B number of hours each on trying to exploit the condition.

Assuming that Y is fair greater than X (otherwise it would be pretty infeasible and not cost effective selling the product), you can assume that Z is also greater than X, though maybe an order of magnitude lower than Y.

Therefore, Z x B is fair greater than X x A. Especially as the developers need to spend their time on other things, and will get very bored, very quickly, of trying to fix the condition.

The Multiwinia beta test had some features disabled. They were cracked open within hours of release... It's insane...
