GTA Hot Coffee - was it worth the "outrage?"

Looks like the Hot Coffee debacle was the act of a few "righteous" campaigners who think they know best after all.

Take-Two had a court ruling against them that they should refund anyone who feels offended by the presence of the Hot Coffee material in the game.

According to the article linked in this slashdot piece, only 2,676 people out of potentially millions have actually claimed any money.

What a waste of time.

And just to throw it back into the prosecution's face, because so few people have taken advantage of this ruling it now looks like they will not get any of their legal fees paid for either.

Which will show them.

Unfortunately, it won't. It happened all over again with Mass Effect. People who didn't know what they were talking about wanted to get media attention and so threw they own (incorrect) arguments in. Even people who don't play ANY computer games... It has happened, it is happening, and mark my words, it will happen again.

This, mostly. A woman called Cooper Lawrence went on fox news to complain about how the game was just treating women like objects and the such likes. She's never played a game before, and when asked if she had seen the bit of Mass Effect that was the "sex scene", she said no and laughed at how stupid people must be to play computer games. She pretty much went on the show to promote her book, which a lot of people on the internet then went and gave bad reviews on sites like Amazon so it dropped to the bottom of the list. She apologies. Pretty shitty of her really, and I'm glad her book was screwed over so much for it.
