Right, I dont know about you guys, but I love my racing games. Kart games, pod-racing, F1 racing, I love it all. However, the one I love the most: racing sims. In-depth, gritty, painstaking racing games with mods, stats, tuning and the whole shazam. Gran Turismo is one of my favourite racing sims, it's in my blood. The whole expansive car-setup aspect and the precision driving required really does offer one of the best driving experiences ever.
Enter GTR, THE real driving simulator. Comparing Gran Turismo to GTR is like comparing Crash Team Racing and NASCAR - no comparison. GTR's scale of depth is just unbelieveable, with stat heavy charts, graphs, suspension tweaks, de-tuning characteristics ... youd be silly buying this game expecting a bit of fun with your mates.
So, I was blown away when I noticed a GTR trailer on Xbox Live. I found it on youtube so I could show it to you all:

This trailer is amazing in high-def. All of you 360 owners out there, I urge you to take a quick viddy at it. All the other trailers I've had off of Live were silightly inferior to the actual game in terms of looks, or a bit fuzzy, but this is perfect. And oh boy does it whet my appetite, it looks stunning. The game is released early October 2006 so for me, it just wont come quick enough. *preordered*
GTR's main game mode is a 24 hour race of the GT classes of Le Mans. That's right, none of your Audi R8 or Radical SR8 nonsense, these are Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches ... all modelled in paunstaking detail. The physics of the cars are just stunning - never before has it felt so real. Incidentally, trying to drive a car first time in this game is like trying to fly a helicopter in Flight Simulator first time. You WILL crash. In a real car if you floor it from the off, youll pancake into a barrier, so GTR has kindly emulated these features for us.
Aside from the main mode there are also plenty of other championships, as well as a gritty online mode where, if you try and screw about, you will get bitten in the ass. I will definitely be buying the 360s wireless steering wheel when it comes out, just for this game. I like steering wheels better anyway.
I cannot wait for it to arrive on three-sexty. Just out of interest, heres the links to SimBin's (the developers) previous games in the franchise.
