This is something I've been pondering and something that has been discussed a bit on teamspeak and a bit on here.
Two strategies have been proposed:
Fast growth, low quality:
We can recruit heavily, spam invites and quailty check later once the numbers get high enough for us to take a breath.
Slow growth, high quality:
We go out and play with people and if they like us and we like them then they get an invite.
I realise that quality and growth speed are not mutually exclusive but bear with me for simplicity.
Whilst most of the officers in THN favour the former, I've been sticking to my guns on the latter strategy ... until now that is. After thinking it over for a while (the benefit of long work commute journeys) I've realised that the route I am taking is no longer viable and its the wrong thing to do.
What changed my mind ?
The realisation from a conversation last night that many of our senior guild members would much rather be playing with other guilds (myself included) and that as a guild we pretty much have nothing to lose anymore. We've lost a few senior membes to other guilds as they want to do more raiding recently - I am also thinking along those lines and have been having an internal moral debate as to whether this is the right thing to do or not. Having spoken to people last night I realised that I was not the only one thinking of moving on.
Given that things are not working out the way they are we should try one last thing, and that is a big assed in your face, no nonsense recruitment drive. Spamming the LFG, asking people we see out and about (nagging if you like) - promoting ourselves as a raiding guild! All of us doing this and seeing what happens is the only thing I can think of left to try.
So, in a complete about turn from what I said yesterday lets go for it if you're all willing ... and if you're not then fair enough its been a good ride
I should be online tonight should you want to chat about this - I'll get myself a macro setup and will start spamming tonight also.
