So, we're nearly able to start the next of the big upgrades!
above is a wee poll to gauge interest in which of the upgrades people want.

the next upgrades are:

Architecture Level 4: Give access to the Guild Vault with an additional 100 slots of storage.

Economy Level 4: Gives access to +10% rare crafting mats from gathering for 48hours and +15% Karma from DE for 48 hours upgrades

Politics Level 4: gives access to +20% influence from Dungeons and the Guild Banquet upgrades

Personally, i'm thinking Politics for dungeon influence then use that boosted influence to get Econ for the gathering\karma bonus' and finally the storage upgrades.

so THN, let me know what you want to be upgraded next!

Poll is open for 3 days as of now!

I agree that is something we need to look at, though the limited permissions mean it's likely an all or nothing job as there doesn't seem to be a "only allowed to activate banners" or similar option.

I'll try grab Ronin at some point over the next couple of days when we're both about and discuss giving some of the more active people access to activate upgrades

On the subject of offering up permissions more widely:

I think it's a trade between coordination and flexibility.

Influence is gathered by everyone for everyone's use, but it's a limited supply (albeit fairly flush) and not everyone necessarily wants the same thing out of that supply. In other words, there's potential for competition over influence.

The counter for competition is coordination. Iron Fist and I are acting in the role of coordinators and gatekeepers to the pool of influence. If we can agree a different way of coordinating that works for people, then I'm happy with that.

However, the need to coordinate also reduces flexibility; in other words, you can't always get what you want when you want it because you've got to wait on other people getting a consensus together. Hence coordination versus flexibility.

The relevant guild permissions are as follows:

Queue Upgrades - add or remove upgrades in the queue
Modify Upgrade In Progress - speed up or cancel upgrades in progress
Activate Built Upgrades - activate consumable upgrades that have finished building (this consumes the upgrade)

Other permissions that are peripherally relevant are:

Claim / Unclaim WvW Forts - change which fortified area is being held by the guild in WvW battles
Guild Stash Deposit - browse and deposit items and funds into the small Guild Stash
Guild Stash Withdraw - withdraw items and funds in the small Guild Stash
Treasure Trove Deposit - browse and deposit items and funds into the larger guild Treasure Trove
Treasure Trove Withdraw - withdraw items and funds in the larger guild Treasure Trove

The default Officer permissions allow access to all the peripheral permissions and the Activate Built Upgrades permission. Maybe that's the answer here?

But see the thoughts about coordination versus flexibility; consideration for all the guild members should be the default stance.

The least I want is be able to claim things in WvW.
I had the option to claim Stonemist castle a few days ago but didn't have enough rights to do so and I was really bummed by this.

Because stonemist castle is the coolest castle there is.

Ok, poll is closed, Politics IV is on to build, will be done on Sunday Morning.

I've also put on +10% Magic Find for 3 days which will finish just before midnight tomorrow, so look forward to a little better drops this weekend!

As we'll miss it this weekend, next weekend i'm planning to have the 20% Dungeon influence up as much as possible starting from early Friday evening through Monday morning (28th-1st)
My flatmate and myself are planning to run through as many dungeons as possible over that weekend.
It would be good to try get a couple of THN groups in parallel doing story\explorable dungeons, even if it's just the AC lvl30 dungeon which pretty much everyone is either able to run, or is close to being able to run.

tl:dr politics is on to build and will finish at the end of the weekend, 10% Magic find will be active for 3 days from late tomorrow night, 20% dungeon Influence will be active as much as possible from the evening of the 28th through to the end of that weekend.
