Hey, here's a discussion thread for the Guild Wars event taking place on Sunday 12th July.

Event

Just a couple of points of note. So far we have three people taking part, as far as I'm aware (myself, Fist and Tingham). We would be glad to have more people along, but be aware the max party size starts at four and opens up to six after noob isle (eventually reaches 8, but that's far off in the distance). If a fair number of people happen to sign up, we might need to split into two teams initially and then clobber together later on.

Also, so that we can get everyone on the friends list, post the name of at least one of your existing characters here. Then all you need to do is add that char to the friends list (press 'n' in-game) and it'll remain there for whatever other char the person might be using.

Regarding D's post in 'Side Game', Fist and meself have been discussing it in game a bit.

Well, Tingham is definitely going to be a monk. Probably Mo/Me, but the secondary class isn't much to worry about. So he's a healer.

Fist was saying he would start a new character as either an elementalist or a mesmer. Personally, from a team-fitting POV, I'd recommend Ele. We need an AoE character (mesmers don't really do AoE), so I would say go with that.

Myself, I was thinking at first of going Necro, but Fist raised the point that we're going to need a tank of some sort - so I figure why not me? It depends on D as well, if you have been harbouring a passionate, incontrollable desire to go warrior then I'd be happy to go Necro (in fact, I'd rather go necro, since I've already got a warrior). If, however, you are harbouring a passionate, incontrollable grudge against warrior, then you are free to choose any other orbital character, such as ranger, necro or mesmer. Your choice, big man.


Tingham - Monk/Mesmer?
Fist - Ele/Me
Myself - Ne/???
Big D - Tank of some shape or form.

EDIT: D has consented to playing as our tank, so I'll be playing as Necro ... something. I'm not sure what secondary is good for Necros. Fist has opted for Ele/Me.

Also, it looks like we'll be starting pre-searing Ascalon. So, Tingham, I hope you haven't been pushing on with your char, because we'll all be starting from the start

Right. Character ready. Dee Tanild is the name. I've done nothing save talk to the very first guy and complete the easy quest

I have a Ele called Erin Stormfist who i'm going to grab the +7 ele armour with in a moment.
I've done a few ice golem runs so have a 7-10 ball hammer, a 6-8 water wand and a 5-8 Holy Rod going spare for anyone who wants.
also can you please grab any red iris flowers you find lying around and send them my direction i need a rather large pile of them for my other pre character

Tbh im going to be setting off from the very beggining as a Monk/Necromancer.

Not sure on the best way to fit this is, tbh. Ill make my char beforehand and stick him in Ascalon City.

I've made a new character, Necro/Ranger by the name of 'Genetic Perfection', and he's sitting in Ascalon city just now. I've actually completed a couple of the secondary profession quests with him (as the ranger ones are quite far out of the way), and then I visited most of the outposts so I can fast travel easily. I saved all the necro stuff for later on, though, so we can work through those together, Tingham.

Oh, and since you asked, I think we should probably make the start time a little later. Say 7.00 or so. Might clash with my dins a bit, but I've done some of the secondary stuff already so I'm not bothered. Just hang onto the necro stuff til I'm around again.

What outposts would you advise getting?

i would advise Ashford Abbey as a definate as thats where the monk and necro skills are and Fort Rannik if you want to get armour pre-searing

i'm in-game so give me a shout if you want run anywhere

That was pretty good, thanks for turning up tonight fellas. We got a good bit of stuff wrapped up there, although there's a bit of pushing and pulling with the profession quests You pick up a lot of quests in a short space of time, so your quest log is chock full. Luckily, Mr. Fist had it all streamlined out, and I hope that continues when we get to Kryta because you end up running in circles around that place.

I'm up for continuing this again as soon as possible, sometime over the course of the next week? I'll suggest Wednesday night at about the same time (7.00-ish. I guess that would be 2.00 or something for yourself, D), are you lot free that evening? If not, let us know what nights you are free and we can arrange accordingly.

I can make Monday evening from 6 to 10ish, any other night from 11 onwards.

during the week is probably going to be more difficult for D than the rest of us as i'm really the only one who can live in roughly the same time zone as him.

my recommendation is then this
we plan something for next weekend for definite and then if Tingham is free during the week we can set a point to be at for the weekend
for instance do The Great North Wall and any quests\skill quests you want from Old Ascalon and Piken Square by Sun then plan Fort Rannik, Ruin of Surmia and possibly Nolani Academy for the weekend

meaning D can grab me at any point he wants during the week to get to that point as i do have a healer i can use and can run the GNW mission solo around 30 mins

The weekend would be good for me. Or lateish Wednesday (9.30ish).


Id be happy to work towards a point like that. Fist.

But, obviously, as a monk, I have problems soloing. Would I be able to keep a team of henchmen going, dya think?
