Guild Wars Event #4 Discussion

Hello!

This is the discussion thread for the fourth installment of our Guild Wars capers.

In this event, I plan to take us through the Northern Shiverpeak story missions (Borlis Pass + The Frost Gate) and then descend from Beacon's Perch into the sunnier climes of Kryta. Whether we carry on to Lion's Arch from there we can decide on the event.

Here is a link to the event:

Thanks, I hope to see a full turnout for this one, too!

Any optional quests that I should be waiting to complete, or are we just going to stick to story missions this time?

BiG_D: I think we did most of the sidey-questy missions out of Yak's Bend at our last event, so we're just going to stick closely to the story missions. Unless, of course, there is a side-quest on your log that you have a burning desire to complete, then we could arrange to fiddle around with that before the event or something.

Fist: That's unfortunate, but I guess it shouldn't be too hard for you to catch up since you can hero it up. I can help as well, if you want.

Well, this event was a resounding success since I was the only one to turn up! I've rescheduled the event til next week, now, so go back into the event and alter your status accordingly.

I just need to work on remembering things for more than 5 minutes after I agree to them :p

I am pleased to report that this event was a major success! We managed to get through both Shiverpeak missions avec bonus, and then even managed to complete the first mission in Kryta to leave us sitting pretty in the major outpost of Lion's Arch! It's a shame we didn't have our trusty healer, Tingham, with us, because it was a really enjoyable little jaunt with a few chuckleworthy moments here and there, the least of which was certainly not Fist's cunning detour that saw us ambushed and cut to bloody ribbons.

All that remains to be said is thanks for turning up (no sarcasm there, seriously), and I'll get started on organising the next event for this Sunday coming. Although I asked you at the tail end of the event itself, are you all ok for Sunday again?

See you then, travellers of Tyria!

Yes, Sunday should be fine.

What's the plan for the next event? I believe there's a fairly difficult quest right off the bat there. (That Villainy one? It's been such a long time...) It might make sense to do that as a team.

At our current levels, Villainy of Galrath is probably a bit beyond our depth. Back in the good old days it took an 8-man party of level 19s and 20s to complete the mission, and you could still get unlucky even then. It's my favourite quest in the game, I must've done it for fun with other groups about 20 times, but I think we should steer clear of it just now.
As far as a plan goes, I reckon we should try to clear out at least a few of the sidequests in Lion's Arch (there are a lot of them in there) and then move on to one or two of the story missions afterwards. There are a lot of areas to explore northwest of Lion's Arch, and a few important outposts to cap (Temple of Ages especially, the Galrath quest is most easily accessed from that outpost anyway) so I fore-see us doing a hell of a lot of wandering on Sunday.

Fair enough. I've already done the walkabout with Cynn and folks, that was a good way to earn a couple levels :p Haven't ventured beyond the area though.
