BBC News report that the ECU on a modern car is easy to hack (ECU = Electronic Control Unit).
The hacks require physical access to the car's data ports, but I guess it would be relatively trivial to create a GSM unit that plugged into those ports that would allow remote control of a car via mobile internet...
Colour me rather perturbed.
BBC News said:"We are able to forcibly and completely disengage the brakes while driving, making it difficult for the driver to stop," wrote the researchers. "Conversely, we are able to forcibly activate the brakes, lurching the driver forward and causing the car to stop suddenly."
