Half Life 2: Episode 2

Whereas most of you orange-box owners out there seem to have gone for Portal first, I personally went for episode 2.

And I have to say... FUCKING BRILLIANT.

The story is told so brilliantly I find it difficult to put into words... you HAVE to play this game.

I'm not going to put out any spoilers myself atm because I know not many of you will have played it yet, but until that point feel free to add the superlatives that this game deserves.

Now for my non-spoiler comments on the game...

1) Even though (sometimes) you know precisely what is coming, it still scares the shit out of me.

2) You WILL have a newfound hate for antlions.

3) Hunters suck.

4) They suck some more.

5) No really, they suck.

6) Advisors suck even more than hunters do...

7) Dog Rocks.

8) Alyx rocks.

9) I FUCKING HATE THE COMBINE.

That is all :D

This list may be added to as more of you play/complete it...

I never finished the original HL2 game due to boredom with what (to me) seemed like a technical show piece rather than a storyline. Is Episode 1 worth following up on or should I just jump to Ep2 ?

There is a movie at the start of Ep2 that summarises what went on in episode 1, but I will say that both of them were highly enjoyable and the story in episode 2 is just told so brilliantly that I think i'm in love :)

If you found the original Half Life boring (How could you?!?!) there isn't much point getting the episodes...

you got bored of slicing ppl in half with a grav gun and a spinning serrated disc. I didn't know that was possible

Finished the game earlier on today, definitely a brilliant continuation of the HL2 story. And :eek: at the ending!

The commentary on the game is also really good once it's been completed, quite a lot of interesting information in there. :)

uh... meh! Not sure why you're so worked up about the ending...
I felt waaay more emotional attachment to Weighted Companion Cube. And he was a deeper character, to boot.

Ok so maybe im being a bit of a noob, but what the hell are you supposed to do once you get to the car. I can't figure how you are supposed to get it out/any where useful.

You are being a n00b. :D

If you have just literally got the car and need to get it across the bridge, you have to do the following:

The bridge is like a see-saw after it gets smashed up when you get to the car - you need to use the truck on the right hand side to get on teh edge of the bridge and get onto the see-saw bit. Then use the grav gun to remove the cars that are weighing down the end of the bridge - it will then tilt up and allow you to boost the car over to the other side, where Alyz and the Vort will meet you.

Ahhhh I see now, tried jumping up that right side but couldn't do it, it felt like it had been blocked for some reason.

I doubt it - the person scrubbed out is wearing a tie like all the other men and seems to have a lack of lady-bits in the chest area. Using the lady in the bottom left as a reference she is not wearing a tie and has a different collar; which the scrubbed out person does not have.
