HELP I need a doctor!

My pc is having troubles with a new piece of software and crashes randomly. ]

Can u suggest some application that can tell me what is going wrong!!

any programe or such that may identify the cause as it could be a few things.

Oh and il be doing a lunch time show from 1pm till 2 so see u there

There is really no such thing as a PC doctor program with a "press here to tell me whats wrong" button. Diagnosing PC trouble like random crashes is a slow and cumbersome task of eliminating possible causes.

If it starts giving trouble after you installed this or that program, uninstall it.

Is you're whole PC crashing or just the program? What is the program and what is it meant to do (THIS IS IMPORTANT)?

If XP is randomly restarting, turn on the blue screen of death:

• Right click my computer
• Properties
• Advanced tab
• Startup and recovery Settings
• Under system failure:
  • Write an event to system log
  • Send an administrative alert
  • DO NOT automically restart - This is turning on the blue screen o' doom
• Under Write debugging information
  • Small memory dump (64KB) should be enough
  • Leave Small dump directory to %SystemRoot%\Minidump

Now, when windows crashes, you'll get a blue screen of death (YAY!). There will be a message near the top that is only one line long, which is kinda helpful, however, if you can get EVERYTHING on the screen (pen and paper to the ready!) then I can help you a lot more.

If you're NOT getting a crash, and instead windows just freezes, run the program in safemode (by holding ctrl at startup, and selecting "Safemode" from the list - don't worry about networking or command line). If it works, you are most likely getting a program collision, so in normal windows mode, close all running programs - including the icons in the taskbar and next to the clock.

Tell me what happens, and we can go on from there

Remove the software COMPLETELY.

Grab a copy of adaware and scan for trojans.

Update your anti-virus software and do a full system scan.

Once you've done the above then post up results.

The software she is is whatever program it is that's recommended by you guys for doing the THN radio broadcasts... Her computer completely freezes (with no BSOD) and goes completely and utterly unresponsive... forcing a hard reset. It actually froze in safe mode too!!! And only seems to have happened since she downloaded whatever program it was for doing the THN radio :/

Does it freeze when she is using the program? Does it freeze if nothing else is running (ie TS)?

Ok to answer all ur questions. It will randomly freeze if i run SAMb or not nut mostly when i do. It will also stuggle to even start if i reboot so i turn it off walk out the room come back and turn it on. IT CRAHSES IN SAFE MODE ffs. There is a possibility there are bugs in SAMb as i was geeting some weird assed error messages last night in the log or it could be a virus my virus scan found the other day that i dont know if it removed

My plan of action is to:

A) delet a load of crap that was involved with SAMB and do a fresh copy
B) check my virus system and run a scan
C) employ blue screen

Sounds like she's got a seriously barfed installation of the firebird database - get the services it runs as terminated a.s.a.p that should fix your issues.

Starting in safe mode however these services shouldn't be running ( I think ).

Try that anyway ...

Do you still get Step-by-step confirmation as a booting option? I liked that feature in the older versions of windows - very handy exactly for this reason.

Sounds to me like overheating personally. The fact thats its random freezes, and its takes a while before you can reboot it...
