Since we have such a multinational community here i thought I might draw on some of those experiences.

We have booked a weekend break in Stockholm and was wondering if anyone (thinking mainly of Docbot) has any experience of there and can reccommend places to go there.

We are also thinking of going somewhere in Canada. But it's a very big place. Any reccommendations (Big D?)?

To be perfectly honest, there's likely people here who have seen much more of Canada than I have.

What sorts of things are you looking to do, and what time of year? If you want to do some skiiing/snowboarding, Quebec or BC are probably the best bets.

Ontario has your landmarks (Niagra Falls, C.N. Tower, etc.) and the big city centers.

On the east coast, you get nice scenery for driving/hiking etc.

It really depends on what sort of stuff you want to do :)

Probably not going to be skiing and such, more sightseeing. I fancy driving through different areas to see as much as possible. :D

Go to Canada and go to Toronto, really is a whole load going on and lots of fun places like the cn tower and the skydome which is awesome, go in season you can also catch the maple leaves. Skydome is an awesome visit and there's a hard rock cafe in one corner where you can go watch a game and eat lots at the same time. It is also near canada wonderland, which is an awesome theme park. You are also near niagra falls which although is very touristy is still awesomely impressive.

I loved Canada was really great trip, second only to Aus/NZ trip. So I'd agree with BiG D and go with Ontario. Unless you want skiing then I have a mate working out calgary way who'd say that is the place to go.

Nice, a weekend in Stockholm :) Now it's not the best city of course (that being Gothenburg ;)) but there are still quite a few things to see and do there. There are a few things you can't miss, but those you probably already know about - Gamla Stan (the old city) is one example.

When is this weekend? A few things is rather depending on the weather - the archipelago, skansen, etc. Also, what are your interests here - culture? Dining? Atmosphere?

Although I haven't been myself, the Wasa ship museum is supposed to be quite impressive. I can dig up a few recommendations, but it's better if I know what your main interests are and what time of year you're coming (I must be tired, I keep repeating myself today).

Edit: also, will you be depending on public transport? and what sort of weekend are we talking about here? Arrive late friday, leave early sunday? Where will you be staying?

(that being Gothenburg ;))

Wait, Docbot, does that mean you've had your home town (location) spelt incorrectly for AGES ? or did you just add an extra "n" to that bit :p

I've not personally done Canada / Sweeden, But I'd agree with bob that Auz is awesome... /on topic

hah! yes I have :D

Although to be fair, there's no "n" in the swedish spelling.

*changes it*

Isn't DocBot using English as a second language? I think it's allowable for him to spell a word wrong now and then. Until you can speak and type Swedish perfectly then I don't think you're in a position to criticise him :p

Until he can speak English perfectly he's in no position to criticise me. I shall use this witticism for such an occasion:

"You smell like piss"
"Well you're covered in vomit so I guess neither of us is the king".

Anyways, in Canada I'd probably recommend the CN Tower, never been there but I can imagine the view is amazing. You gotta go skiing, or at least some sort of hike if you go to Sweden. :p
