How many new posts?

This is just a small suggestion for an improvement for the site, and it's not important so I don't want sleep lost over it

I always use the new posts link to see new posts, and it occured to me that there was no indication of how many unread posts there are in a thread before you view it and see for yourself. Is it possible to implement something that will show next to each thread with unread posts how many there are? For example:

Game Announcement - 3 unread posts

I'd expect that it might involve a hack or some extra coding. A nice idea, though, so I'm all for it.
