This is a required step if we wish to play matches in the Enemy Down bf2142 Infantry Ladder.
With each game/punkbuster client you have a unique ID, known as a PBGUID. As a way of verifying that you are actually a real human player and are not cheating this code is required by the Enemy Down league as part of its rules of eligibility for players. I am going to explain how you can register with us on the ED boards so you are eligible to play in our matches and also how to obtain and register your PBGUID.
Registering on ED
First of all, to register. It's been a while since I registered there, so I'm doing this by memory - but basically its like signing up to any forum. The signup link is in the top left area of the website I believe, simply create an account on the ED website like you would any other website.
Joining the THN Clan
There are two ways to do this. The first way is to use the clan search option (link found on teh left hand navigation bar towards the bottom) and search for the clan tag THN. At present, our clan is the only one that shows up on that search. Click on the yellow [THN] tag link to be taken to the overview page for the THN clan. Alternatively, use this link to go directly to the THN overview page. Next, use the drop down box to the top-left of the clan description area to change it from "overview" to members. At the bottom of the list of players there is a link saying "ADD YOURSELF TO THIS CLAN." Click it.
Now I would leave this page open because now you need to find your PBGUID.
Obtaining your PBGUID (this is copied from the ED forums here.)
1: Start the game as normal, connect to a online server running PunkBuster.
2: Type into console these commands: (to open the console press the backtick (`) key - this should be located left of the 1 and above the tab key on a standard UK keyboard)
pb_logtofile 1
followed by
pb_myguid
this will create a logfile in your bf2142 folder. Then type
pb_logtofile 0
To turn off the logging.
3: Now quit the game and go to the punkbuster folder of your BF2142 install (in my case: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\pb) where you will find a newly created text file called pbcl.log which will hold your guid,now you can copy/paste it into your profile on ED.
It will look like the following in the log file:
[12.03.2006 18:44:06] pb_LogToFile = 1 (0=No, 1=Yes)
[12.03.2006 18:44:10] GUID=7333f5f660a37fe9614a29435fac3f 7d

Remember you must go on a server to obtain this PBGUID, the ID shown on BF2RA or BF2CC are not your PBGUID. This ID also differs from your BF2 ID, do not get the two mixed up.
Finishing off clan registration
Now that you have the PBGUID copy and paste it into the browser window I advised you to leave open earlier. If you hadn't left it open, then follow the steps mentioned above to join the THN clan again. enter your PBGUID and press the confirm button.
You will then receive the following message:
"You have submitted a request to be added to this clan.
The clan's leader/deputy will now need to approve your application before you will appear on the clan's member list."
This basically means to give Traxata a kick up the arse and get him to approve your application.
You will show up on the clan member list (the same list where you click "ADD MYSELF TO THIS CLAN"). There are then two things that then need to happen before you are eligible to play in ED matches. The first is that Traxata needs to approve your application to join the clan. The second is then (what I believe to be) a three-day grace period after you have been approved before you can actually play. This method is there to stop "ringers" entering battles at the last minute. To check your clan status, hover your mouse over the red X in the Play? column of the clan member list. At present, Traxata is the only person with a tick, meaning he is the only person eligible to play in ED matches for ED atm. waterproofbob is at present showing up as "Wait: Tue 2nd October 22:16" - meaning his application has been approved but we are waiting for the 3-day period to expire. My own one is (at present) showing up as Awaiting Approval (meaning traxata needs to get his arse in gear) and everyone else who is on that list is showing up on that list as having an invalid ID.
Why is that? Basically, alot of you already have accounts on ED from our bf2 days. He can invite you to our clan as the leader of that clan. To enter your PBGUID in this situation you need to edit your profile page (while signed in obviously - link near the top left) and at the top of that page is a box where you can enter your PBGUID, that looks very similar to the one mentioned above. DO EET!
Once people are on there and registered we can then actually start challenging other clans to matches! I'm not sure on the status of our server (which I believe is now working) with regards to its configuration (especially punkbuster) but I'm sure we can play on other clan's servers while we get ours sorted.
