[i37] Team Fortress 2 Tournament

Bob and I were chatting a bit and we think it's a good idea to enter the Team Fortress 2 Tournament at i37.

It's a fun tournament, at the moment, but we reckon it would be a good thing to do and hopefully do quite well in. It's 6v6 as far as I can see. I was thinking the team would be something like this:

Nanor - Soldier
Fury (?) - Demoman
Bob - Heavy
Trax - Medic
Ronin - Scout (?)
? - ?

So we needa sixth and Fury; are you up for it? If memory serves correctly you're quite a good demoman.

What do you reckon?

as long as there is a points limit on the rounds this time as well as a time limit (Trax will testify to this and it was one of the main gripes in the tourney feedback thread) then I will play too.

I prefer heavy/medic really, though I enjoy demoman too.

Though I was hoping to resurrect the cod4 team too but we won't be able to do both :)

I'd prefercod4 as were better at that. But I guess we should do a little vote on that one :)

Then again, there are 15 of us going.

We could do both with 2 different teams?

need at least 5 for CoD and 6 for TF2...

Preferences?

Err on the point of us being better at CoD I don't reckon there's much in it. It is much easier to get better at TF2 than it is to get half decent in CoD.

I guess bob, it's easier to play as a team than a group of lone wolves covering certain areas :p

I've not played CoD4 in over four months. I've played TF2 for over 16 hours in the past two weeks, and that's been the case for the past four/five weeks. I suggest I'm substantially better at TF2 than CoD4.

That said, I'm also more interested in TF2 than CoD4.

Yep, I'd probably play Scout, though I Medic fairly well and switch to Pyro with decent success any time a game is going south. I believe Bob said "you're fucking irritating" regarding my Scout play and then quit a few minutes later, so I guess I must have been doing something right (and, simultaneously, wrong).

I don't believe I left due to your playing :p. But the only scout I've had more trouble putting down is gizmo and he seems to disappear all over the place. Scouts imo are brilliant road blocks and irritants as well as being deadly in their own right.
I personally feel a TF2 tournie likely to be more enjoyable it tend to be a laugh even when you are getting steam rollered.

I'm happy either way but I'm one of few that is currently at a pretty similar level of skill in both games at the mo. It's been a quiet time FPS wise compared to this time last year much the pity.

I think TF2 it is :)

Of course, it's 6v6 but we can sign as many people as we like in the squad, or even look at having TWO teams of 6?

I'm not sure if Huung and hiw 2 friends have TF2 and would be willing to play but could be fun :)

i'm up for either CoD4 or TF2 and i'm pretty sure Tets would prefer CoD4 so i'm pretty sure we would be able to get teams together for both if we want

the only issue is that it's likely we won't be able to do both. I'll hapily make up numbers in TF2 if required but would prefer to do CoD.

Perhaps we should turn this into a public poll?

If we can get enough numbers for both teams then I see no reason why we couldn't do both :)

It's only a problem individually for us doing both, isn't it? So if a bunch want to play CoD4 and a bunch want to play TF2 then, individually, we choose and we're all good. But if some of us want to play both at i37 then that could be a scheduling conflict, right?

that's precisely it. The two tournaments WILL clash with eath other, that I can guarantee. This means that the same person won't be able to play in both. But that's not stopping us from having a team for each comprised of different people.

We all do, and the two guys are big FPS gamers. Don't know how interested they'd be in tournament play, but I'll see if I can rally them to the THN TF2 server at some point so we can get used to each other's playstyles.
