i38 Food?

Can anyone collaaborate a list of the food options at the i38 please?

Including some example sof what sort of food the pub there serves; is it fat chips, pizzas and burgers or a bit of variety like chicken fillet burgers and curly fries! nom

i37 was a bit of a disaster for me personally, had to live off the very sub-par and overpriced snack van.

What are the bar prices like?

The bar prices are quite expensive, unfortunately, Newbury Racecourse management sets prices and while we have managed to get special reductions on certain drinks from time to time, you should expect to pay "southern" prices. You are free to leave the venue to have a few drinks, in any of the local pubs and bars.

Is my own beer okay outside?

Unfortunately not. The entire racecourse is a licenced venue - car park included - and so we can't allow alcohol anywhere on the premises. The bar is open late and has plenty of beer ;-)

How much are pizzas?

We don't set the prices of our vendors but we do encourage them to offer special promotions and deals which will vary from event to event.

Pizza will be delivered to your desk and is probably the most popular option for eating at an i-Series.

I've got snacks - what can I do about real food?

Snacks and so on aside, 'real food' can be obtained throughout the day from various on-site vendors.

Alternatively there are many local takeaway and restaurants that you can go to, ranging from Chinese and Indian takeaways to McDonald's, Pizza Hut and Burger King.

There is also a microwave that we provide on reception so you can always microwave yourself a meal bought from Tesco or Sainsbury's - both of which are only a few minutes drive away.

Right, So I am now coming by car, this means I plan on returning to my usual I-Series chef's role if bob is still up for helping me!

The normal menu consists of the following

Breakfast:
Egg, Bacon, (Addition for i-38) Mushrooms/Beans if people want

Snacks: Mini sausages/ Chicken Drumsticks, Asda party food type stuff which looks like it's edible cold. Cooked in advance. (Note: This year we have a small fridge!!)

Lunch: Usually something snacky or sausages or similar. I'm happy to expand to some nice chicken thighs this year as we are all working people!

Snacks: See above

Dinner: PIZZA / Burgers & Sausages
Pizza is usually a popular alternative, particular for the first night. But we also have done some BBQ age, or we could go out to a local pub or something.

(Note: Bob and I are out with friends Friday for a few hours)

Soooooo....

I guess the first question here is who is in on the BBQ kitty. And do you have any recommendations or such like. Cooking equipment for this year is the Cadac BBQ and my Camp cooker (single hob, reasonably efficient). We also have a small car fridge which I can run at least some of the time to keep stuff cold!

I only really eat chicken out of all the above. Drumsticks, thighs, don't care.. nom nom

Oh and bacon.

Happy to chip in if there are BBQ options for both of these.

Alternatively if there is a store nearby, again assuming you're providing the BBQ we could just buy things from there and do it that way? I might get chicken and chops if we did that ;)

Ok silk, I can work with chicken & bacon.

I will make sure that there is and chicken/bacon option for each meal. How are you for marinades - like/dislike?

So to summarise,

Meals I expect to provide

Friday
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
Saturday
  • Breakfast
  • Lighter Lunch
  • Optional dinner, what do people want to do here? BBQ/Pizza
Sunday
  • Breakfast
  • Large Lunch
  • Light Dinner
Monday
  • Breakfast
  • Possibly lunch, how long are people staying for?

People I am providing food for
  • Me
  • Bloke
  • Bob
  • Solemn
  • Silk (Chicken/Bacon only, investigate marinades)

Anyone on this list who didn't want to be, or not on this list who did?

I'll discuss food options with bob and post a more updated menu at some point!

I'll check with the Rush Gaming guys, looks like a 2nd one of them has now bought a ticket so he's moved off from where we are, however they may well still want to get in on the food, if you're ok with that Vibs.

I won't be at my own PC (and therefore XFire) till tomorrow night, so I'll ask him then.

I'm happy providing up to 7, from experience beyond that with the Cadac starts to get crowded and complicated. So yeah thats fine but no more.

Out of interest, anyone know if danny's coming?

I'll just take the chicken as it comes i.e. however you're cooking it for the majority. Am ok with most marinades, just not keen on strong onion or tomato flavours. I love spicy - am a Nando's hot kinda gal ;)

Also don't go overboard for my share, as I do want to try the pub there and whatever else is around.
