Bring Rockband to I40

So, the first thing I thought when someone said clan box was "Rock band?"

Basically my suggestion is this>

I am happy to bring my xbox, rock band, projector and drum kit to i-series.

The caveats are as follows

1) 2 people need to bring xbox guitars as mine are kinda dodgy
2) We need at least some interest that people are going to use it
3) Space is at a premium in the clan box as far as I can see. Projection space shouldn't be an issue as there are plenty of walls, space for drum kit and people might be more difficult, see below
4) Rockband kinda requires speakers, so we will have to try and see what the deal is with a small speaker system in a clan box

I took rockband with me to Italy for my stag week, and have to say I was surprised how well it works with more than 4 people, just cycling round who is doing what. If we have enough interest I think it could add a different edge to the I-Series and social gaming

As far as space is concerned, we can move things around a bit, and the drum kit doesn't have to be where the guitars are etc, we just need somewhere where it can stay, ideally without moving it all the time.

So, what do people think, yay / nay, good idea or bad?

As I'm driving... it doesn't bother me :p I only have PS3 rockband, so my guitars and drum kit are useless!

I am useless at RB, but will give vib's drumkit a go to compare it to the plasticy standard one...

I guess my main thought is socially derived and boils down to a concern that the clan box is for 22 and if, say, 10 want to play Rock Band then that may leave others wishing Rock Band wasn't happening.

That said, with a little planning I can see that you could say that Rock Band was going to be being played around a lunch time or something so that people could grab something and stick around to eat/play and those who were less interested could take the option of a longer lunch and wander 'round i40.

Oh, and I need an option for "I don't feel strong motivation either way, but I can bring a guitar".

I'm all for playing however I agree this is defo a check when people are happy for it to happen and THEN do it. Either a lunch or somet like that.

I also have all the expansions apart from the Beetles one, so if you're missing one, lemme know and I shall bring it along for some diversity :)

I like the idea, but the execution of the idea might be a bit tricky.

I think the main problem you are going to have is finding somewhere 1) to mount the projector and 2) to project onto and 3) have people sit/stand in a place which works with the locations mentioned in parts 1 and 2.

I was also under the impression that i40 was a "headphones only / no speakers" event, so im not sure how the music part of this rock band idea would pan out too. Do we just bring an amp, and a set of speakers along also, and make sure that everyone else is okay with a bunch of people clacking away to music and singing in the background?

Endless setlist anyone? ;-)

If you were a spectator(no pc) D entry costs would only be £25 for the weekend!

FYI on space, Oblivion doesn't appear to be turning up,so we have an empty space where he is. Spicy said he might get someone else to book a ticket to move him off elsewhere so his friend can clan box with us!

Haven's space just became free, get yeself on a plane man! And yes, I will be bringing the drum rocker

Ok, unless we have a severe increase in no's between now and I-series I shall "pack up my drum kit in a new suit case and drive, drive, drive"

For reference, I run my drum kit in a slightly abnormal configuration which I dont intend to change, so if anyone but me likes the drumming, it might be worth convincing someone (ronin?) to bring another kit?

Ronin> Either way, can you bring your guitars.

Huung (i think)> I have RB1, RB2, Band Hero. Stick any other XBox band games in your backpack!.

Any xbox gamers> I don't see why we can't put the xbox on the network, so if you have a MU, stick your profile on it. I believe there are rumours with the NXE you can use a memory stick is a MU, so now excuses!

BOB> TRY AND REMEMBER YOUR MU FOR ONCE FFS

--EDIT--

For speakers I was thinking of bringing the computer speakers we used on stag week wol. I'm thinking as we are in our own clan box enclosed area we should be ok!

I'm really down to one operational guitar. The others are pretty old and sickly.

with the NXE you can use a memory stick is a MU

Yes, you can. Only 16GB, IIRC, but that's still loads and MUCH cheaper than the X360 memory units.

We could ask...?

So we need one more, Huung?

Yes, you can. Only 16GB, IIRC, but that's still loads and MUCH cheaper than the X360 memory units.
Ie, up to 16GB, or 16GB, no other?

We could ask...?
We could but I have two thoughts on this
1) I don't actually know WHO to ask
2) They might say no, but if we don't ask and have it setup, they might not

We can also with this setup do any other multiplayer xbox gaming of course.

Halo immediately springs to mind, along with blur?

My RB2 guitar seems to be getting a little iffy, but it's worth a try anyways. I also have (and prefer) the freebie type guitar which came with the pre-order GH:WT pack, so I shall bring both just in case the 'better' one decides to play silly buggers.

Green Day RB and Lego RB are the other two I have, so I'll note them both down on my list of stuff to bring :)

I can bring my xbox too...

I also have a proper xbox headset (turtle beach X11) which works very well :)

Only MP games I have atm are MW2 and blur but getting some blur on at the LAN where tets can smack me for spinning him off the track will certainly be interesting :D

Right, that's really useful. Nice one, TB.

Looking at that, we might have one or two walls that could be suitable for projection, though one of those may have computers already lined up on it. I notice that for the centre-facing computers there's a gap between the tables, which may make setting up the projector in there quite suitable, though it would also mean that people were playing from the sides, so to speak. It doesn't look like there's much back-to-back space, though, so this may prove to be fairly problematic for drums.

You know at some point if you do this you MUST make a recording of you all rocking out and post it!

WANT!
