Hi, could people going to i42 write here if there are games they do not have which they want from steam which install at over 2-4GB and they dont want or cannot spare the home bandwidth to download.

Other attendees can post if they have those titles installed and will do at the event. As for priority, i think its fair to say there is non, but the larger the less i would think people would want to download.

Steam Games i would like:

UT3 black ed, 8GB
ARMA 2 operation arrowhead 7GB
Bioshock 2 10GB
Red alert 3 uprising 6.5GB
Darksiders 9GB

Grand theft auto 4, episodes from liberty city 16GB
Aion 12GB
The witcher enchanced ed, 14GB
World in conflict and addon 10GB

Star wars the force unleashed 26GB [???????????????????]
Elder Scrolls oblivion 6GB
Dirt 2 10GB
Tomb Raider legend 7GB
Operation flashpoint dragon rising 6GB
C&c 3 11GB

Killer, we usually have a local steam mirror at i-series, so download isn't usually a problem!

Not sure on the point of this thread tbh.

However what I would say is that mpuk host the Irish steam mirror and take it to the LAN with them. Also if the last LAN is anything to go by the mirror works well and the straight connection is awesome. You are pretty much just as well off downloading the games directly from the mirror. I keep all file shares off and firewalls on while at LANs so it's easy to just download them. A whole lot safer as well. There was a nasty virus that went around rigs at Stoneleigh one LAN where a lot of people had left their sharing all on with firewalls off.

Well i was going to give it a week or so for people to post what they want, and then ppl post what they have, but it seems things i was not aware of make it less likely that i would need to find out who has these, and ofcourse i could just on site say "who has this", though im sure it wouldnt take long to annoy people.

For 160GB of files, its not the size, its that my computer doesnt have that much free space on the c drive with steam, and i thats why i cant download them. I have 2tb of storage though.

On the note of viruses, should i be worried?

So long as your not an idiot, and turn sharing off and the inbuilt firewall on, you'll be fine.

Some people run custom os's for multiplay, but others take their normal.

Inshort, don't take anything with you that you can't afford to lose. Make sure you have a full backup of everything!

Not really, I'd advise that you turn off filesharing and turn on your firewall. Otherwise you are all good. You are on a network with 2000 people so apply common sense and you'll be fine.

Also never worry about annoying people at a LAN. People will tell you pipe down if they are annoyed, trust me I'm very annoying :D.

no YOU shut up :p

But yea, we can easily come up with a steam backup of certain games if we need to and transfer either over the network or via USB, or, chances are, they will be on a local mirror that you'll be able to download from at around 9MB/s :D

Provided it works, and Shedboy hasn't been left in charge of bringing it back from the London Datacentre.......
