Gits could have bought us a round of drinks ;)

grats guys, just out of interest how do you go about making these things? Do you plan it out / draw it someplace beforehand? Plan materials? Or just wing it all?

Do you decide on each person doing a specific thing?

1) come up with an idea a few months before hand
2) Fail at step #1
3) get bob to come up with something on the friday
4) plan out the vague ideas and layout of it
5) research images on the internet of what youre building
6) build!
7) repeat #6 until complete.

Materials, you have /i to give stuff, so you dont have to worry about availability of stuff. One of the largest things is just getting everything to fit in the space given really if youre building redstone systems. Once youve played around with redstone for a while (see our random build plot on the THN server for this), you get an idea of how big certain redstone things are and can plan this in advance.

for this build they split the tasks up between people. one person will do one thing, someone else will work on something else etc. e.g. bob was working on doing the internal skyboxes, bacon did the QR code, etc...

It also depends on what you're good at.

Personally, I can't do creative stuff that requires me making decisions but if someone goes "I need a floor there", "I need a wall around this", "I need this redstone signal to be over there" or "I need this redstone circuit" (that sort of thing) then I can do those bits.

It's division of labour I guess.

Looking younger comes at a price grayve price.

Mmmm. Gravy.

I think one thing we manage fairly well is the planning aspect of it - everyone knows the overall plan from the beginning, and scribbles on a piece of paper sort out the details.

My heavily-scribbled-on registration sheet did look quite bizarre by the end - a mix of floor plans, musical notes and maths. Too much maths...

Essentially bob is amazing then a few people place some blocks and we win. Or at least that's how my alcohol fuelled mind understands it :D

5) research images on the internet of what youre building

Personally, I find this to be crucial. Visualising clearly, in 3D, what you want to build can be tricky when it comes to the specifics but with a pictorial guide that job becomes much easier.

Actually ronin, we try to avoid perfect replicas for exactly that reason. It tends to be alot easier to build stuff which isn't an exact copy but more a design to a theme. Although the castle was a bit different this time
