I always like looking through these opinionated things:

IGN's Top 10 Final Fantasy VII Characters

Of course it's no surprise that Sephiroth is number one, a 6ft long Masamune blade is enough to do that for anyone, but some like Aeris and Tifa are punching well above their weight. My favourites would be Cid, for the amazing way he treats his wife ('Get the f***ing tea on, bitch!'), Red XIII who looks amazing and is one of the most interesting characters, and Barrett who was a really strong and humorous character.

Wish they would get FF Crisis Core released in Europe. America is supposed to be getting it yesterday. I been busy playing FF tactics on the PSP and can't put it down.

well the fact i almost missed this hurts me deeply...
but cait sith in the top 10?! i mean just NO. just...! it hurts to think about it
of course not surprise sephiroth is in first as he is uber. and i did try at one point to buy his sword but i had (and have) no money to speak of.

well Nanaki was my favourit char along with vince then cloud.. well that was my best team of 3 i always had
Surly the Turks should have counted as one
Yuffi worst char along with Cat saith tho some of their moves where cool
And yea Seph was cool definatly the best bad guy in the FF series
