Teamspeak is a fantastic way for members of THN to communicate with each other in real time for any purpose being it game related or other. Many of us have been encouraged to use it and many of us do which is a good thing, however, sometimes it is chaotic when a channel is full of people. Now on to the point of this post.
Last night during our BF2 practise we had a good turn out of players. I think around 13 of us showed up and most of us were using teamspeak. We used teamspeak to coordinate what servers we were playing on, and we were encouraged to speak in game as much as possible, but on a lot of occasions it went out of hand.
People started to continuously talk on teamspeak about unimportant things, talking over each other and yelling or shouting occasionally. There were also people talking about things other than BF2. It all mounted up to a stream of noise that I was constantly being tortured with. I found it difficult to concentrate on the game, to hear what was going on and to hear what people were saying for those of us who were using in-game voice.
I am sure other people must have been bothered with this as well. It should be important to you all that you understand to use teamspeak for important communication only during a practise game or even during a match. Things become hectic on teamspeak if there are a great number of people on at the same time.
We also had trouble with some people needing the IP address for which server we were on, which created excess noise on teamspeak, and bother for those playing. I understand this is a bug in BF2 for some people where they can't search for servers in the filter list properly, but some way of advertising which server we are on needs to be devised, as joining through x-fire no longer works for BF2 ever since the update.
In short, everyone must use teamspeak with care. Don't talk over one another, talk softly and lightly as much as possible and during a match like last night use in game voice as much as you can.
