*In Progress* PR Server Upgrade

Sorry to bug people for a 3rd time but I hope this is different people!


As PR 0.6 has now been released we could do to get our THN server upgraded, now I am neither a Server or PR Admin so have absolutly no control over this, but perhaps someone can register to be a server on the forums and then make sure we get our server upgraded by Sunday/Monday


also, we need to make sure we have an PRadmin around for both days in case we want to switch maps etc...

(I think we do atm)

Well our PR server has been taken down for some time now, due to lack of interest. Don't know the admin's current positions, but i'm sure that if it becomes popular enough the admins will look at re-establishing it.

ahh, this was what I was trying to sort out!

i would host on my connection, but i'm only on belite atm so it's no as good as it could be...

whats the chance of getting it put back up do we reckon?

if none, then we'll just go and find an empty server!

That depends on several things:

• Availability of an admin to sort out the 'paperwork' i.e. getting our server legalised;
• Availability of an admin willing to put in the time to set up a server;
• response time of the PR legal team in responding to our request to host a legal server.

We could, however, by-pass points 1 and 3 by putting a password on our server. If you have a passworded server, you don't need a license for it (as far as I know, but don't quote me on that )

incorrect now i believe. They don't seem to be giving out the source for the server without people registering their server

As of v0.6 the Project Reality team is no longer freely distributing the server code. You will need to apply for a license, be granted a license and then you will be given a download link for the server code via PM on the forums.

Currently, the only Admins with console access to PR are me and elDiablo. elD's busy with his new job and I'm currently building a new machine and going through redrafts of my CV as I'm changing jobs.

Read: we're a little short on time just now. I'll get there but this weekend is highly unlikely unless elD has some time.

I suggest falling back to getting a few of you together on a public server.

I'm intending on showing up on Sunday night, but as Ronin said, I'm killing myself during the week trying to get my work done (mostly because I'm enjoying it). That being said, I don't see us getting a license, and the server set up, in time for Sunday, especially as some lovely people are coming to my g/f's house to mark my ageing on Saturday!

So yeah, maybe public this time, but I'm definitely up for setting up the server again. I can usually spare the odd few hours during the day to help get things going, as long as I'm not at the Flying Hamster.

Is it worth us starting the license acquisition process now? I don't mind doing it, but as I can't do anything withit, it seems a little silly?
