Intresting TS problem

I have a problem with Ts and BF2, i always** use voice activation with my mic, and the mic never picks up my speakers, recently* the output to my speakers has being grabbed by TS and used as an input overlaying(so i can speak while it happens) my mic. I have a noise canceling mic, creative X-fi soundcard, with 5.1 soundsound speakers, all the plugs are correct.

I reached this conclusion by unpluging my mic while ppl were complaining and they didnt stop.

*This problem only happens while BF2 is runnning maximised.

**(i can go for hours not realising i am muted)

So you're saying that Teamspeak directly draws the output from your soundcard as an input, effectivly bypassing your mic (the standard input).

If this is the case, it's probably a sound driver clash with teamspeak and BF2.
In TS2 go to Settings - Options - and change the Sound Driver option from Direct Sound to Wave (or vise-versa)

See if that helps

Thanks for the help

It was on wave, i have changed it, i forgot to add, my ingame voip doesnt work. i can receive, but not transmit.

EDIT: Whats "primary sound drive", is it same as SB X-Fi Audio [A000] ?(there are the only outputs)

effectivly bypassing your mic (the standard input).
I belive ppl can still hear me while its happening.

Primary sound driver is whatever you told windows your default soundcard is.
And yeah, looks like a sound mixing issue.

I dont think the card was worth the 89 quid :( i need to get some decent speakers(either logitech(?41) or creative(?161))

The "???" are pound signs :S

get a decent headset with a mic attached - much more immersive (and neighbour friendly) than a big set of speakers when gaming.

Quite a few of us (at least 5 THN'ers) have the Sennheisser PC150's and the quality on them is superb.

I think the problem may be inside bf2, the direct to wave fix in TS didnt work.

in bf2 i set the sound onto the card instead of the default software sound. i shall fix that next time bf2 runs, but i can only test it when ppl are around to complain :P

You could put it in local test mode to, you know, test it...

Thats no good, cus sometimes it doesnt happen for hours sometimes its every 10 mins, but it only happens when bf2 is maxised, its too random to test like that, i managed to get ingame voip to work for 10 mins, but thats broke again. this is pissing ppl off and theres nothing i can do. :'(

Maybe it happens when you are playing sounds, it can still be a mixer issue, put it in local test mode and do some stuff. It's very unlikely to be random.

I shall do that, but as i say this is only when battlebattle2 is running, and i've been using ts ages even on my new pc and bf2, btw push to speak doesnt fix it, just gives me greater control to mute it when it happens. it even happens when i unplug my speakers and mic :P

Well i fixed it:

I was running space monger and i noticed my fraps folder was 17.9 gigabytes.
I thought "that cant be right" so i openned it and took a look.
I was full of videos of me in vehicles on BF2, UT2004 & Cod1.
But the vids had sound effects; ingame, radio, and TS.
Fraps was set to get sound from the sound card in a feature called "What U Hear!".
So when it was making videos it was running what you hear into its recording channel thing, the same one TS uses.

Record video: F9
Benchmark:F11
F9 being the most comonly used view change key in BF2.

ALL The videos had people like bex and kirby yelling "Killer your mic."
