Its probably going to be bigger in America, due to the bigger following Marvel has over there. But will it affect over here?

I am going to see Iron Man tomorrow (with no 360 its not a worry) been looking forward to seeing it for a while, are any of you going to see it?

I saw it on Sunday there, it was a good film but nothing special. I think the influence of Robert Downey Junior is overestimated - he's a better superhero actor than, say, Toby Maguire (as is anyone with a heartbeat) but he confers too much of his (wanker) personality on to the character and taints it a bit. Other than that it was typical by-the-numbers CGI fest; fun, but not really all that intelligent. As far as the comic-book superhero movies go, Batman Begins is probably still my favourite.

Batman begins is still unbeaten but this for me is a close second. Best Marvel film for me so far.
Hugely entertaining and all in all a really good film to see at the cinema.

Saw this last Saturday and loved it!!!!

For me Robery Dowy Jr was great for the part.

Tetsuo, that personality is what makes him great for that role he fits Tony Stark perfectly. He has arrogance aplenty and the bit at the end where he admits to being Iron Man just shows it all. His ego wouldn't let him say it was someone else.

O and for anyone that didnt stay behind after the credits and see the little bit they sneaked in at the end watch this........

i found that the people who had not read any of the iron man comics enjoyed the film much less than those of us who had, which is not something you can usually say about films based on another source :p

Hard to reply to that as a qualitative statement (did I enjoy the film more than I would have if I'd read the comics? no idea!) but I had no prior understanding of the Iron Man mythos and I really enjoyed the film. That said, I also like Robert Downey Jr from my introduction to him in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

All in all, though, I have to agree with Tetsuo's statement: I enjoyed Batman Begins more and am really looking forward to The Dark Knight.

One of my mates (Munn, that would be) who watched it at the same time as me enjoyed it a lot more than I did, and he put it down to having seen the older cartoons first. So, having analysed the movie as 'a movie' and not 'a faithful big-screen adaptation of a comic book/cartoon' I was left feeling like I missed a few of the things you lot got excited about. My personal thought is that it's undergone Spiderman-syndrome - i.e. Marvel fans swallowing their own hype so much to the point where they are blinkered into thinking the film is as good as they said it would be (I know that none of you are that shallow, but the influence of the mass crowd bore even me into thinking that way) even though the CG-graphics and expressive personalities merely mask the fact that there really wasn't all that much characterisation and the story was pretty ropey at best. I'll let it simmer in its juices for a while and see how everyone feels about it after buying on DVD ...

EDIT: I realise I'm being pretty severe on it, in all honesty it does what it sets out to be - a bold, brash, in-yer-face action movie that finds you munching through a box of popcorn a little faster than you expected (but maybe that was because I knocked half my box over the floor when I kicked it by mistake :() I'd give it ... 7/10 for trying.
