I've been waiting for this pretty much since it was announced, sometime after HL: Source turned out to be pretty meh.

Even in all the years after the failed-Christmas-release fiasco, I'd check back on the site every couple of months; there'd never been anything outright suggesting abandonment of the project, and they were still paying for the hosting and domain name, so I figured they'd just gone really quiet.

When I saw this counter appear on Saturday? Fangasm.

And Gribley; I'm assuming they'll have multiple download mirrors. They won't just have it on their site, they KNOW what'll happen if they try that. There'll have it in various places; mediafire, rapidshare, and other DDL sites, plus probably Fileplanet and almost certainly a torrent as well. Don't worry, you'll be able to get your hands on it easily enough.

The approximate download size will be 3.03 GB, 8 GB uncompressed. At launch, a launch pad will be available offering multiple mirrors and options for download. yea but torrenting is bad... right? I mean, it's only used for illegal file sharing which funds terrorism so it must be bad?

When I think about how much I played the orignal I am staggered. When I also factor in that i'm not adverse to the possibility of playing it again that further compunds the issue.

I know it'll start a chain reaction that will cause me to play opposing force, then hl2 then the two sequels. And then all that will happen is i'll find myself back a square 1 yelling into the aether "Damn you valve where is my Half life 3!"

It's also been announced as one of the first 10 games to be pushed through steam greenlight, so will appear on Steam soon enough.

I'll probably check it out then
