[Job] More contrasting text colours

Without going into the reasons why, I'd like to have a greater set of contrasting colours for use around the boards for text, perhaps usernames.

Currently, for usernames, we use the following colours:

  • Red
  • Dodger Blue
  • Tomato
  • Orange
  • Lime Green
  • Gray

I'd like four or five more colours.

Some quick rules:

  1. They must be web safe, so I'm not accepting arbitrary hex values.
  2. They must work simultaneously in both the blue/light style and the amber/dark style.

It's the last that's the real catch, of course.

You may find the following a useful resource:

Rep for good contributions. :)

I think this will be more problematic than it sounds - having colours that are contrasting but still perfectly readable on a white background AND a dark grey background just isnt going to work... I say just get rid of amber and then we can do whatever ;) (joke!!!)

but seriously I don't see how this'll work past what we already have...

  1. You're never serious.
  2. Different colours for different themes, of course! Ronin always needs more to do when it comes to THN!

You say joke to getting rid of amber, but does anybody actually prefer it. I tried to use it for a while and found it quite unpleasent. This job would be made easier by not having it there as a problem.

Amber styles are the one area of the system that I've agreed to leave entirely alone, except for critical functionality upgrades.

That aside, it is useful to have dark and light styles (whatever they may be) as some find dark on light easier to read and others vice versa. I'm currently using Blue2 but I find it a bit glaring yet I find Amber much too dark.

The current colours work sufficiently well between both styles; I spent a good few hours playing around trying to figure just the 6 or so that we use. Hoping for a few more to add to the list. :)

i definatly prefer amber to blue and if wanted am happy to do any updates to it. saying which i'm planning on throwing together a new button for adding a new event as amber currently uses the one from blue2. i shall try have a look into colours later.
