LED, LCD, LED Back Lit - WTF???

I need help from the collective THN brain please. I am about to get a new TV. I am thinking of an LED, but then I start reading about Full LED, LED side lit, LED back lit. To cut a long story short, I have zero idea on what the difference is. Could you kind people please spread some light on this please

Erm, ignore us and go into a shop - compare the visuals on the screen and pick the one you like the most. Then figure out how big a screen you want for your budget and size of room (my 42" in my 8foot wide room is a bit of a squeeze!) Then make sure you are buying from as big a name manufacturer as you can (Sony etc).
