The main thrust of this bill, from what I can gather given my limited time to read it at the moment, is to stop people visiting sites deemed 'unsuitable'. Without even going into the many many dangers of one person in Government being able to choose what is 'unsuitable' and thus censor it from the entire population, the fact of the matter is it simply won't work. People who want to visit such sites WILL find a way to do so. Terrorists, peadophiles and the like are not generally stupid people. Given the publicity of this bill, coupled with the amount of time it would take to hunt down and block all these websites, those groups will have plenty of time to work around it. Rendering the whole bill useless in every aspect and achieving nothing more than reducing our freedom just a little more. Oh, and no doubt costing us a ton of money for some inexplicable reason.
imho the government should listen tbh.
Not likely. I'm just hoping that the Tories can get their act together and win an outright majority in the election. Not so much because I'm a right-wing Tory boy (although I am
), but because this current lot couldn't tell their arse from their elbow!
