Lockout system set to change in the future

Apparently they are going to change the way raid lockouts work from once to twice a week.
This information was posted on TW WoW site

Ofc you can still extend your lockout if you wish to have more time on a single lockout.

They say that this is all is a test to see how things go..

And here is the blue response so that we all can understand.

Your thoughts about this change and what will this mean to the guild on a weekly basis?

There are some great advantages. More loot, faster progression.

But, if the raids lock out earlier, people want to do the top raids more often. Meaning less time for new members and alts to gear up. I think alt runs will die a sillent death because of this and I think that's a shame.

Alt runs are difficult at the moment as it is. We haven't really got enough of a raid team to have a "main" and "alts" run in the same week to the same raid.

I think this all depends on when the lockout is reset and how we manage it. I suspect it'll be reset over the weekend - probably Saturday.

As I have often said, it's difficult to fix who is going where and when until the raid group actually starts being put together. Not everyone is on the same days each week and not everyone wants to come on every night. This I put down to the more casual approach we have to raiding - which for me as R.O. is a bit of a pain but as a player is why I like The Haven.

I think we'll have to wait and see for the moment but I can see this is going to be a much talked about subject.

It's bad. We generally need two days raiding to even get a shot at the end raid boss(es), and with people's purple fever (not to mention the more worthy ongoing trek towards the legendary) fighting against the concept of extending the lockout every step of the way, it's going to get harder and harder to get at, say, Ragnaros... :/

The plus side is that you can extend FL a number of times while you do BWD multiple times a week for gearing purposes.

Or:

Keep FL extended on someone who doesn't need loot anymore and go do the farm clear with another group, maybe only 2 or 3 bosses, and then continue on Raggy again after reset.

As long as you don't let yourself be ruled by your desires, but come at it logically it gives us a lot more flexibility.

Flawless logic.

FYI: We cleared 6/7 in Firelands last night :)
Granted, it was the bulk of our main raid crew but, even so, we have regularly been doing 4 or 5 bosses in one evening.

2 days to Raggy? Pfffft.

Er... yea. That's still two days. One day to kill everything else (which, I'll admit, is a nice progress), and another whole raid night for Raggy!

Now, come Monday, say you actually had to explicitly extend the lockout to get to Raggy. Right beside you, Brionac is sitting pretty on his legendary quest chain. Now you have a choice to make: Raggy or Bri?

If the lockout is one week, you don't get troubled by this dilemma... :D

You just have the same dilemma on Thursday instead. Extend last lockout to concentrate on Raggy, or do a fresh run.

This way, if we decide on an extended progression lockout, Bri doesn't have to wait a whole week for the next clear run.

Having said that, I have my reservations about it, but am willing to give it time.

This is true. And traditionally, whenever I have put this choice forward, I have been systematically shut down. :p

But at least, with the weekly lockout, we have one day at Raggy.

One is better than zero, to the tune of infinity. :p

J.
