Hihi. Basically, have any of you guys got an old graphics card (by old, I mean ATi Radeon 9600 era-ish) that I could liberate you of for cash? My current is a GeForce 4 MX420 which is, in the politest possible form, absolute gut-wrenching shite.
Ive seen a few good cards go on here for tuppence, so its worth a try, right?

NOO! Don't discourage him. I want fruit pastilles :(

It is a reasonably powerful card. I can run BF2, although, it doesn't do good for your frame rates. It can run anything else with relative ease.

Yeah but i think its best to get a card that supports Nvidias pixel shader 3.0 technology if he doesnt want to upgrade any time soon.

I got a 6600, it rocks. Though, it does cost a considerable bit. If you are playing less demandable games, then the 5200 would be fine.

Its only a temporary upgrade until I can get a full blown system (probably after the old summer 'Olidays. Cost a flippin' fortune they do) so it should be just fine. As long it can play most of our current games (CoD 2, Counterstrike Source, Guild Wars, CnC Generals etc.) at a decent rate, Ill take you up on that one Nanor.

You aint gonna get no fruit pastilles but Ill give you £15, which should buy you lots of pastilles, since it was payday yesterday and Im in a good mood.
Ill drop you a line and you can give me details on delivery charge and all that cal.

Oh, it better come with drivers and install disk, and it better be AGP.

The 5200 was introduced in 2003 as a budget card for the Geforce FX range. In terms of power, it sits somewhere between a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 and Ti 4400. What this means for your games is that it can cope with most things for the moment, but it's future ain't too rosy. But it will beat the hell out of the Geforce 4 MX (which, incidentally, has no pixel shader support - the 5200 gives you pixel shader 2.0 goodness).

It'll capably run Source at a reasonably high level of detail and resolution if it's put in a half-decent system - and you can run BF2 on low settings, or on medium settings with only 16 players.

For £15, it's a quantum leap in power compared to your current card. Go for it.

I've a 1/2MB ISA graphics card kicking around somewhere that you can have. Not sure of the brand but I can guarantee its not ATI or NVIDIA !

Can I just take this opportunity to make known of the fact that THE GEFORCE 4 MX420 IS TOTAL SHITE!!!!! It crashes... and crashes... and slows down... and overheats... and crashes. Worst of all, it crashed my PC the other day when I was winning in the last lap of a PGR3 tournament. Shuts down the net connection, quits the race... damn!

Looks like Ill have a 5200 in the near future.
