So LOTRO is going free to play this autumn. I might check it out and see what they did with the game since I last played...

Sucks to be the lifetime subs..

Eill try it again with you though.

I did laugh at the Caps though..

3 Bag Slots.

2 Gold.

Limited Chat.

Standard login.

No Rest XP.

1 or 2 traits.

Cant spend Destiny points.

No Monster play.

Obviously you get everything if your a Lifetime sub.

Yay for us lifetime subs ;)

I might have to have another poke at it again soon then, but tbh, it's largely just RPers still playing. Not much in the way of PvE, and next to nothing in PvP.

Fair - considering it's free.

Just look at what WoW limits you to when you play it for free.

Unlimited gold, Free to whisper (as long as your freinds) free roaming of every zone, level 20. Alot more. :p

Are you talking about the trial?

having a trial =/= being free

Maybe. But you're more or less forced to pay for LOTRO if you want.............Anything. Since by level 26 (I think i got my Ranger...Hunter...thing.) The mobs were dropping 50s each, so 4 kills = Goldcap.

Unless they significantly changed the way gold is earned in that game, I seriously doubt that....

Getting to 1g in LOTRO was actually an achievement, more like the equivalent of 200ish gold in WoW...

Still, you can pay to have the gold cap removed, it's not like you have to pay for every aspect of the game. Complaining about having to pay a micro-transaction of a few quid for a permanent upgrade is just a tad stingy :p

Really? Then the 50s or so each for the traps on my Ranger must be a lie...

But. I cba argueing. I remember 1g being really easy to get.

Then my first point holds true; they've significantly changed it. When my brother started playing again a few months ago he already had more gold at 20 than my character at 45ish. I assumed from AH whoring, but if gold is that simple to get now then maybe not.

Back in the beta there was way too much gold, you could buy ANYTHING you felt like, it was almost an unlimited resource. When the game then hit retail, they cut it massively, and seemingly too much if they've now had to partially reverse that.
