Pfft, just because I showed you this, which now allows Intel Macs to have DX9 and OpenGL1.5 support (meaning you can play ALL games that don't need OpenGL2 or DX10), and now you're trying to show off! :p

Just kidding, nice find. Still, I'm not gonna get a Mac. I'm a Windozer! And I like it :)

Though Linux is Schmexy, and this desktop might be my Linux desktop soon!

I don't bother with macs to be honest, the whole lack of games thing is quite annoying. There's a project from the Cedega folks to have mac compatibility with DirectX but it's for developers only, unlike the linux version. :(

elD: Do what I do - dual boot! :D This laptop runs both Windows XP and debian x86-64, which I can assure you is a nice setup :).

maybe once you get round to building a new pc elD you might think about cleaning up that hell of a mess you call a desktop. looks like a cat threw up on it, before exploding.

i'm planning on getting a MacBook Pro based on the fact that it's not possible to get a 2.2Ghz C2D (running part of Santa Rosa) with 2GB ram and an 8600M GT all in a nice shiny 2.5Kg package for anything like the £1100 student price. and as a bonus i can then just bootcamp it and have a winXP\Linux machine, the only problem being that the intel macs use the EFI system (or at least the last ones did so i don't see while they'll change it) rather than a standard BIOS meaning that a small OSX partition is also needed.

oh and UT2k4 runs on macs and linux natively too :P

I would Dual Boot DeZy, except it's annoying if I just want to do 1 quick thing on Linux :D I find it too annoying having 2 users on Windows; one for games, one for work! So I'm tempted to keep this computer for work user, and buy a new one (when I have money from job) for games!

I already have a linux laptop to use, but it's graphics card is a bit... rubbish... So I can't have the lovely eye-candy of Beryl or Compwiz at full blow. Which is a shame, because I like eye-candy for desktops/laptops. But then, 3 desktops would be nice...

And bob: my desktop isn't that bad!

You could always try Colinux, which mounts a virtual image (eg Knoppix, debian, gentoo) inside Windows and runs a vnc session to access it. I used that setup for a while, although I'll be the first to admit that it ran a little slowly on my machine. But with a fast machine it could be a worthwhile solution, especially for doing "one quick thing" in linux.

I see, EA are working undercover for Microsoft, intorduce games to MAC's ...add a few patches and BAM! The first virus to be made for MAC's! Clever stuff :)

I remember reading it's not that Mac's can't get malicious stuff, but that they make up such a small amount of the market nobody wants to make stuff for them (If you want to be an arse, you gotta hit the most people you can :P).

Its more because osx is based on unix this is very hard to make viruses and malicious attacks for. Its sort of like the reason ppl don't write viruses for linux. and MACs make up a large proportion of computers for business so theres plenty of ppl to attack. The reason ppl make malicious stuff for windows is because its bloody easy to do as its like pouring water thro a sieve. People don't attack unix based systems as its damn hard to do, where as windows is a piece of piss and crackers are knobs.

as well as that apple release patches that fix things unlike the windows patches where if your lucky they won't make another problem by fixing the current one

It's because of market share. Really.

You can keep telling yourself it's about the quality of the code, but until another OS hits somewhere around 40% market share, no one is going to waste their time trying to find the security holes in it. Heard of any vista viruses? (Google turns up a bunch of hits from the beta, back in 2005, but not much more.) It simply isn't plausible yet.

Heh, yeah that's it D, also... 2000 takes up more than Mac eh? Damn!

Also, bob, if you wanted to prove to the world you were a 1337-h4x0rz wouldn't you try to h4xz0r the harder system rather than the easy one that's been done a billion times before?

I've never had a problem with windows in the years i've had it, infact I have updates appearing every few days... Heh, they never fixed the *.wmf loophole did they. Oh, wait, they did. Touché, pussy-cat!
