Got a kindle for christmas and read a few books since then...but this one I cannot put down. I'm even reading it in evenings rather than watching tv or gaming!!!

Recent edition seems to have some of the story that had to be edited out for the first edition and it's a real page turner.

Anyone else read it?

That looks like the sort of book I would be interested in :)

Is that the first in the series?

Yes, and the series runs on and on, though realistically you can just read the ones I did: Magician, Silverthorn, and A Darkness At Sethanon. They're a complete story to themselves.

If you've not read them and have an interest in high fantasy then they're a good read. I'm not sure I'd re-read those ones, but...

He co-wrote another trilogy with Janny Wurts, beginning with Daughter Of The Empire. It's a companion series to Magician. I'll say no more than that, but I'd re-read those if I was reading much at the moment.

Just so happens I'm rading a Janny Wurts book right now: Initiate's Trial - what's technically the 9th book in the Wars of Light and Shadow series.

Stuff I've previously read:

-Wheel of Time (Up to about book 9 and a bit)
-Sword of Truth (Up to about book 10 and a bit)
-The Malazan Book of the Fallen (ALL of them, the best series of books I've ever read)
-The Codex Alera (Very fast paced, and awesome)
-Various other (probably shorter) Fantasy book series too!

So this stuff sounds like it's right up my street :D

I like feist quite a lot, and have read most of his books.

The ones he was single author on are quite samey, but that's ok if you like them. I've drifted off as the series has gone on, though I suspect may have gotten further than most.

I actually believe his best books to be the ones written with others. As Ronin has suggested, the Daughter of the Empire series is fantastic, co authored by Janny Wurts (surprising, as I thought her own work was really rather bad).

The other co authored ones are also excellent, I think they're called the 'Tales of the Riftwar'
