Messengers?

You can already get people msn or yahoo or whatever they have in their profile. So if you have not done so and you want to then you should do it. No need for this :D.

The same could be said about trawling through a thread. ;)
But going through say 3 pages is easier than going through 102 to find out peoples adresses

Alternatively, you could use the Memberlist Search functionality, enter an MSN Messenger partial address of "@" (no quotes) and that will give you a short list of all users who have entered an MSN address.

Doesn't give you their address directly, but does at least allow you to quickly identify who does have an address.

There is a bit of a risk in posting email addresses in threads that they are scraped out by bots to be added to spam mailing lists. It's generally why people are discouraged from posting their address in plain text. Of course, that appears to be true in our profiles too, but the profiles are not exposed through such simple mechanisms.

Nah, I won't close it as people can choose to post or not, as they wish. I do recommend messing up your email address in a way that a human can decode but a bot will have trouble with.

For example:

gopha [at] someNOSPAMaddress [dot] co [dot] uk

Unfortunately that does reduce the utility of threads such as this as it denies cut-and-paste.

ahhh true, but still, its not always bots that do it, real humans do things like this which is stupid, and they would be able to decode it, but still, you can always delete the people from your profile or block them

Indeed. Our defence against them is [SA]HatfulOfHollow's "stabbing people in the face through the internet" machine. :D
