Minecraft bugs

I've created this thread to post bugs or errors you encounter in minecraft so anyone can share his knowledge on how to fix them.

I'll start off with this one:

My minecraft fades to black after logging in, making me unable to enter the options, singleplayer, multiplayer or achievement menu and therefore preventing me from playing the game. Anyone got a clue?

I found this one. For me, the "Updates available" screen only shows on the monitor I entered it on. If I drag it to the other monitor it goes black. Could be related to that.

Sadly thats not the case for me, as I only have one monitor. Furthermore it isn't the update screen, but the actual "ingame" main menu that doesn't work.

Are you running 64bit windows? If so, update java and insure you have 64bit installed.

Have you installed any mods?

It seems that it might have been a bug in the texture packs as so far it suddenly started working again and the texture pack gave me an error message.

That's a known bug:

If a hostile mob can get within 2 blocks of the bed, even if the blocks are separated by a wall, you will be awakened with either a skeleton or a zombie standing next to you. There appears to be a slight delay before the mob attacks you, giving you time to get the first blow.
